  1. U'r absolutely right, zorrillo! Sorry for leaving out the punctuation marks. It may be that he's a pessimist; for it is spring, not autumn, that makes him sad (sullenly melancholy).
  2. "For" in the sentence should be interpretted as because, I think. Please try again. An inversion occurs here.

  6. I see. People criticize mass culture and they themselves spread this critical view via mass media. This ironic attempt undermines their view. Thank u rishim.
  7. For 1, the key is indeed A. The word categorically I cannot fit into the context. For 2, I just cannot find out why one may be guilty of a witticism and what such guilt has to do with forgetfulness. For 3: the assumption "the wider the appeal, the more popular the product" isn't at all ironic. But the sentence must have been intended to mean that because the assumption on which the criticism rests is somewhat ironic, the character (nature) of the criticism must also be ironic... This is exactly what I can't understand.
  8. Again, I must make it clear that the keys I've got here are only provided for reference. They are not necessarily the right ones. 1 key B; I chose C too, rishim; 2 key E; 3 key A; why not repeal; 4 key D; I chose E too, rishim.

  10. 1 A number of scientists have published articles --- global warming, stating --- that there is no solid scientific evidence to support the theory that the earth is warming because of increases in greenhouse gas. A) debunking categorically B) rejecting paradoxically C) deploring optimistically D) dismissing hesitantly E) proving candidly 2 MacCrory's conversation was ---; she could never tell a story, chiefly because she always forgot it, and she was never guilty of a witticism, unless by accident. A) scintillating B) unambiguous C) perspicuous D) stultifying E) facetious 3 Originally, most intellectual criticism of mass culture was --- in character, being based on the assumption that the wider the appeal, the more --- the product A) unpredictable undesirable B) ironic popular C) extreme outlandish D) frivolous superfluous E) negative shoddy Please make your choice and put the completed sentences in simple ways so that I can figure out what they were meant to convey. :shy:
  11. In what sense is unbind opposite to LASH? This question can be found on pp3.
  12. Now I think A is okay. Distillation (A liquid condensed from vapor in distillation) is highly pure; a sysnopsis is highly concise. Right u r. :D
