  1. I disagree! search for some kind of equlibrium. Propose co-authership by clearly showing that extra quality your paper has. If you are in your second year, it is really tough to publish all by yourself. May be you need this same professor to sell your idea.
  2. Thanks TruDog, I believe both help. I have reservation with the first though. Fear based urge to work hard seems rather counter productive if the fear is going to paralyze me at the end of the day. It worked for me previously. come on, desire for more success should also start bringing that extra derive to stay foucused and study hard.
  3. my problem is studying in the afternoon. How do you stay foucoused during this time of the day? apparently coffee is not working the trick for me
  4. I found the discussion here interesting as I am also revising mathematics. " Further Mathematics for Economic Analyisis" by Sydsaeter et al is the book am workin on ( follwoing a suggestion of a frined of mine who is attending SSE). I found the book intresting and of course challenging. I suggest you read it too. I would like to hear more on which areas to focous.
  5. I have been seriously thinking of going to Toulouse of late. But I am having a second thought about that. Today I met these girl who is now attending the Toulouse Ph.D program. She could not stop telling me that life is rather tough and the environment is very competitive ( in the negative sense). In hindsight she now regrets attending Toulouse . Besides she told me that the professors are busy with little time for advising. I was shocked to hear all that! As for placement, the story is also gloomy. It looks the US market is not that receptive of this highly rated European university. The research masters program at Stockholm university (SU)is given jointly with the Ph.D program ( it is called the Stockholm phd program, jointly run with stochlm School of Economics). Essentially I am a first year Ph.D student next fall and I will write a thesis during a thesis during the second year. If the school decides to admit me to the Ph.D program, I can get my Ph.D within two years ( with funding). My previous wish is to go to top US universities using Toulouse as a stepping stone. Now I am weighing going to top UK universities after getting my research masters or continue my studies at SU. What do you make of this confused man's plan?
  6. I have been accepted at Stockholm University (Research Masters ) and Toulouse M1 both without funding. I am looking for an applied stuff on development economics and international trade. I would be glad if some one could suggest which program I should take? Thank you!
  7. I am accepted at Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) M1 program (without funding). My long term plan is doing my Ph.D on Development Economics, Public Policy at top US universities. I laready have MSc in Economics from Ethiopia. I would appericiate if someonw would give me advices on 1. If it is possible to get Recom letters while attending M1 2. possiblle sources of funding. for istance having a part time job? 3. rough estimate of monthly living expense in Toulouse? 4. Any relevant info about studying at TSE and France in general thank you very much!
  8. I am accepted to the M1 porgram at TSE. My problem has been funding. Do you suggest working partime jobs will help me? or at fist place how hard is getting such jobs in toulouse? asieconomist are you still at TSE? would like to hear your experiance there?
