    Another F1 problem

I'm asking this for a friend. she is going to US too and her F1 visa and passport is on the way to return to her. here's the situation. there's a girl in the her school that she helped with the admission (she did help contacting )to a high school near her university. the girl is 2 years younger than her and they are really closed. They both study in the UK and the girl is applying for the visa soon. As they study in the same school, the VO will know that 2 people of this school want to the same area (although studying in different level), so will there be any trouble? the girl is applying from the UK soon and they both are vietnamese. Tino, please help. Any comment would be much appreciated

    visa interview

Ok, here's the details, I arrived there 40mins before the interview time. no queueing outside the embassy though. I guess I was lucky. I got through security check, received the interview ticket and waited for being called to submit the documents. It took 15 mins, I was really lucky cause after that, many people kept coming in. I waited about an hour before I was called for the interview. The interview wasn't brief cause I guess the VO had time to look at my application. He started off with greeting me. yes he greeted me first VO: Good afternoon, how r u doing? me (shocked): I'm great sir, and how 'bout u? VO: I'm doing fine, why do u want to go to america me: I want to attent xx university VO: why XX? me:(answered stupidly), It was one of my first offers and the admission councellor was really kind to me. VO:How are u going to pay? me: I have a scholarship sir, the rest of the fee will be paid by my parents? VO: Are they willing to do that? me : (shocked), Yes, of course sir, they are my parents, They are very happy that I got into the school. VO: do u have any evidence of their funds? me: yes sir, n pass the bank statement. VO: what do they do? me: my mom is,,,, my dad is..... VO: wait a moment, I'll be back me: yes, sir VO: cam back n ask: just another question: why xx, u told me earlier but why? dont u apply to others? me: Yes sir, I applied to others and got admissions to x,y, z and they offered me their highest scholarships but i chose xx cause it's one of the best in... and rank.... Vo: do u hav any relative in the uk? me: no sir Vo: where is ur family? me: they are in Vietnam sir. VO: do u have any sibling? me: yes, sir, I have a sister VO: where is she now? me: she is in NY sir. VO (laughed actually): so u have a sister in America? me: yes, sir VO: Is she a permanent residence? me: no, sir, she is working on H1 ok this gonna take a while, then he asked me have i ever been denied a visa before, what happen. did my sister go to college, who pay, my uk studies, results, how did my parent pay, how much they had to pay. I was really scared, I could even hear my heart pounding. But then, he said the golden words, I'm gonna approved ur visa. take the blue paper to the courier service. I can't stop smiling and he smiled too. then he wished me luck on my study. I left there after about 2 hours

    visa interview

Hi guys, my visa is approved. :D.I will post the details later. My interview wasn't short, it was 15-20 minutes. Other people were about 5-10. But I think I only saw 1 person being denied.

    visa interview

just a question, when you go to the interview, do you give everything including all forms, financial documents n academic records to the VO or just give the DS- forms, I-20, passport, letter of admission and give the other documents when the VO asks? I heard that some people dont even have to show their bank statement at all
  9. Truckguy, which country are you from? and where did your sister have the interview? I'm in a similar situation as her, applying for F1 visa in the next 3 weeks.
  10. just another question: I dont have a SAT score since I'm studying A level in the UK. the university that I applied to is a SAT optional. Will this be an issue for the VO? I will provide all my academic records and AS results. Will that be alright? And also about financial issues: my family contribution is $12500 as the school requested. My parents incomes come up to a total of $9500 but they have savings account of about $36000. we plan to take $9000 each year from the saving and 4-5000 from their incomes to pay for my university. Their living expense is only about $2500(vietnamese living standard is low). What will the VO think about it. Cos after reading the F1 visa denied financial reason given made me wonder.
  11. they are of course legal. the owner of the restaurant that I'm working is also my the owner of my college
  12. thanx for the reply. I plan to return to vietnam and work for the bank that my mom has been working for her whole life. I worked there as an intern last summer and really enjoyed it. I have a question about the DS-158 form, the current employer is that for full time employment or part time too? i've been working as a part time waitress since 2006, do I need to inlcude that? I had a summer job as a tutor while working as an intern at the bank. Do I need to put them in the DS-158? thanx
  13. hi my situation is kind of complicated. My elder sister (8 years older than me) gradaduated from Bowdoin College in 2006. She was then offered a job and currently still working there using H1 visa. I'm currently in the UK studying A level. I've just been offered admission to a University in USA scholarship. I'm applying for F1 visa next month but I'm kind of worried. 2 years ago, I applied for a visitor visa to visit my elder sister but was denied. (I applied in Vietnam I'm vietnamese by the way - might be harder to get the visa right?). the officer told me that he didn't believe me as my sister got a visitor visa after she graduated and then stayed in US and he didn't know where she was right now. But I swear she didn't, Her company came to her college before she graduated and offered her the job before the graduation. I've looked at her passport, they were all F1 and H1. This febuary, she just returned to vietnam to visit and renew her visa. My sister is married to an American now(she married last month). I'm just worried that her status may affect me? she thinks that it wouldn't but I'm still worried. I've been denied visa once (although a completely different type of visa). My sister graduated, then got a job then married. but I have no intention to stay in US after study at all. what shall I do? I also have questions about the DS-158 as well. I worked as a part time tutor and a full time intern at a bank in Vietnam last summer. I also have a part time job as a waitress in the UK since Dec,2006. How shall I fill the form? Under the current employer part, shall I fill it or it's just for people that have full time job. Any advice would be great.
