I have my exam in 3 days and am quite worried about SC's, because of the past few days of grueling experience, I have had, in deciphering the correct answers for some of the BB SCs.. How would you rate them?? It feels so good to c score>1500, I wish I'll have one for me 2:p. Congrats again!!
  9. U guys rock:tup:, [A] & [C] are crystal clear now .. Thanks!! Regarding --------------- When you nourish a child , it implies that you provide him with food rich in minerals etc. for his growth(courtesy: Oxford); ||rly, plants could be nourished using some kind of sprays(chemicals, common practice in farming I suppose), which enriches(=>to improve the quality of something, often by adding sth to it) them with essential nutrients.. So, you nourish to enrich:hmm: -- Plz point out the fallacy in my logic..
  10. Couldn't find a cogent reasoning for ans below in previous posts:rolleyes:, plz help.. 1. FERTILIZE : GROW:: immunize: resist nourish: enrich heat: burn graft: multiply prune: dwarf How to strike out 12Ruffle:Shirt (a) rafter: roof (b) molding: cabinet © gate: path (d) curb: sidewalk (e) shade: window What's the bridge? 3) ILLusion:Perception::? A gaffe: judgement B forcefulness: coercion C lapse: miscalculation D justice: impartiality E cunning: truth Plz elaborate..
  11. Rebuke = reprimand Blame=Censure Persuade : Convince (note: both in Verb form) 1st head-word is the cause(an action) and 2nd the effect.. You convince someone when you are done persuading.. Does that make sense??
  12. 1. Both head-words are synonyms.. A possible synonym of disclose would be to reveal for which you don't necessarily have to speak..U can disclose by showing it..I hope, it make sense. 2. Caustic is something that eats away Dessicant is something that dries.. ..Best wishes for your tomorrow!!
  13. Thanks Jeanette. The last Q is from BB. Its antonym q. ,as it is:)
  14. Ans is in bold..Plz comment!! 1) CONTROL is: A) minor variable B) weak assumption C) improper simulation D) group experimented on E) expression substituted for 2) MITIGATE (a) exacerbate (b) preponderate © accelerate (d) elevate (e) extrapolate confused among (a) and (d) ..expl'n required ? (3) RIFT (a) bondage (b) capitulate ©fidelity (d)consistency (e)reconciliation RIFT: A personal or social separation/A narrow fissure in rock; BONDAGE seems to fit in just fine?? (4) EXPEND: besides other obviously wrong ans choices I am confused among - (a) hold to (b) store up One can either expend his/her money or hold to it--whats wrong here ?? (5) REFLECT: Confused among the options : (a) absorb (b) propagate..Plz explain ??
  15. Ans in bold.Plz resolve the doubts mentioned.. 1) PLANT:SOIL (A) germ:bacteria (B) organism:medium* © sample:growth (D) nutrient:liquid (E) tree:root Bridge to eliminate [E]? 2) REFLECT: (A) diffuse (B) Ploarize ©absorb (D) focus (E) propagate I have been through some 2-3 ques based on REFLECT durng my prep and have totally lost the account of them now. I have always had problems with this one.. Sb please explain: mY doubt in this Q (others,I will try to search) is why not PROPAGATE (most likely was the ans of Reflect in the other que I am talking abt:doh:) REFLECT- is when st retracts after falling on an object(cud be mirror), and PROPAGATE would make sense in that it keeps on moving:hmm:..Plz Comment!! 3) EXPEND (a) proceed towards (b) take away ©place upon (d)hold to (e) store up confusing with (d) ?? 4) RIFT: (a) bondage (b)capitulation ©fidelity (d)consistency (e)reconciliation Why not A ? Rift: A narrow fissure in rock/A personal or social separation ...BONDAGE seems to be fine here?? 5) MITIGATE (a) exacerbate (b)preponderate ©aaccelerate (d)elevate (e) extrapolate Confused between (a) and (d).. 6) CONTROL is: A) minor variable B) weak assumption C) improper simulation D) group experimented on E) expression substituted for Please explain??
  16. By looking at the options/even that is not req if you go through the first part of the sentence carefully , one can easily guess that the second blank denotes the stand(mutual beliefs) among several geologists abt the validity of drift..right? Rumours are in masses and not among geologists, which rules out [E]-- Also,'sophisticated telescopes now orbiting the earth will determine whether the continents are really moving..", rules out options [C] & [D]. [A], result in a contrast i.e. since the continents if really moving will be determined in next decade, consensus will not be obviated (make impossible).. Ans: B (fits in fine)..
  17. Nice attempt Oink;) 1. 3. Seems, my understanding of the sentence is different: Here is how I incorporated the idea of Irony: Reasoning for option [C]: New party leaders encountered no greater benifits than the one's who were elected before ;although both worked towards the building of progressive party:hmm:..There has to be something wrong in my reasoning or perhaps, "benifits from" and "sucess", do not fit in together.. Plz Comment !! 4. :hmm: 6.Okay, please comment on my understanding: Puzzling => contrast among 2 parts of the sentence. As per (E), if the novel suffers from the lack of stucture, 2nd part is expected to refute the previous claim and so must show that it has a robust/ structure(which is evident from "indeed schematic, framework"), but since there is also a mention of "relentlessly rigid", this qualifies "flaw" to fit in the 2nd blank.. =>Had there been no mention of relentless, perhaps, "strength" or st alike would have been in the 2nd part of the ans choice. Plz comment!! 7. Can sb plz explain the implied meaning of this Sentence?
  18. As per this website: PinkMonkey.com Statistics Study Guide 4.6 Empirical Relation Between Mean, Median And Mode A distribution in which the values of mean, median and mode coincide (i.e. mean = median = mode), is known as the symmetrical distribution. Since our's is the case of an asymmetric distribution=> Karl Pearsons formula can be applied here : mean-mode = 3(mean-median) and if it is so, we can compute precise value of mode. I have not been into practicing statistics, so pardon if I missing some basic concept in satistics.. Totally stumped ..what say guys??
