  1. Between D & E its D. In both the sentences they seems to be talking about government, which makes more sense in D
  2. Answer will be A. Statement 1: If slope is negative the angle formed while intersecting with x axis is greater than 90 and now if you draw it you will understand why "Any line that has a negative slope will pass through both the 2nd and the 4th quadrant". Statement 2: There can be a line which passes through that point nad crosses I, IV III quadrant only
  3. It should be Xi = (Xi-1)/2 otherwise it doesnt make any sense. Ans C Statement 1: Xi = Xi-1 - 0.5 You can not make anything from this until and unles you know X2. Statement 2: X5 = X4/(X4 + 1) Again it only talks about X4 & X5 an dno values can be detected. If we combine both, X5 = (X4)/2 from Statement 1 Put this in Statement 2: (X4)/2 = X4/(X4 + 1) Hence X4 = 1 Using Statement 1 we can find that X1 will 2.5 Hence C
  4. Got D too. My approach was: Given: C:B:F = 7:9:2 hence suppose F = x, then B = 9x/2 & F = 7x/2 Also remember x>5 Statement 1: 7x/2 + x x Hence as x > 5 x will be 6. With x = 6, C = 21 & B = 27 all integers. Statement 2: 7x/2 x As x > 5, x can be 6 or 7 We have already seen x = 6 holds good (in statement 1) If x = 7, C = 49/2 which is decimal and as number of chickens cant be in decimal 7 is not an answer. Hence D & x = 6
  5. namit equation is x + (5/x) = 6 Hence when you put x as 5 you get both lhs = rhs = 6 Ans E
  6. Guys evenly divisible means thats the number when divides shouldnt leave any remainder. It doesnt mean it should be a multiple of 2. Hence A
  7. No I am not. I am sorry I wrote the wrong equation: Change the 2nd half time to: (100-x/100)*D/60 = (100-x)*D/6000 Hence overall equation is: = D/(x*D/4000 + (100-x)*D/6000) Sorry for the typo
  8. Q26 http://www.www.urch.com/forums/gmat-problem-solving/99888-problems-test-set-19-a.html
  9. I think calculating is much more easier. You can simply get the formula. Suppose total distance is D 1st half time = x*D/100/40 = x*D/4000 2nd half time = (100-x)*D/100/60 = (100-x)*D/6000 Net Average speed = Total Distance/ Total Time = D/(x*D/4000 + (100-x)*D/6000) Cancel out D and solve, it will give 12000/x+200 and wont even take more than 30 secs

  11. IMO C I agree with all explanations by hina but I dont understand why star's mass is wrong in C. To me it looks correct and make the sentence perfect. In D, "Mass determines whether a star" doesnt explain whose mass are we talking about and hence doesnt look correct . OA Please
  12. It should be D. Option A & B miss something before that. Option E uses Power station which is not required to be mention. Between C & D I think its D as we use "think" in reference to journalist and "they" for Power Stations. OA please
  13. IMO D First there are two different things in the statement and hence should be seperated by and. This removes B,C & E. Between A & D: Statement says federal law is ensuring, which means refers to future tense and hence need to use will and not must. Hence D
  14. I think it should be D; As it should have Who & not Whom and should end with my and not me
  15. As cartman said its a line & not a line segment
