  1. Hi, I need some advice regarding study materials for LA's MPJE. What I have are Reiss's "guide to federal pharmacy law' and a 400-page law and regulation purchased from state board. I'd appreciate if anyone who have already took the exam could share their experience and study materials. Thanks.

    Louisiana MPJE

Hi, I am also preparing for LA's MPJE and already picked the test date in this Dec. I live in Alexandria, LA. If you are interested in discussing study materials please send me private message.
  3. I am not sure about other states but Louisianan board of pharmacy allows interns to work in two pharmacies as long as you have the required hours filled and you notify them about the additional pharmacy you are going to work for. I prefer to work in different settings which can enrich my experience in both clinical and retail pharmacies.
  4. Yeah Karveri you should totally go for it. Talk or email to the pharmacy chief about your willingness to pay for your own liability insurance and ask him to forward the message to HR. BTW, I just got a good news from the hospital pharmacy I interviewed first. They told me that the compliance department agrees to take me in. So now I can work in two pharmacy settings. Good luck with your internship!
  5. Hi Kaveri, The interviews were shorter than I thought and pharmacy chiefs like to ask a common question - Have you had any retail/hospital experience? You can tell them that you had some back at your home country etc, etc. They could also ask what you have done in the past so try to give a brief summary of your educational background. It won't hurt if you bring some copies of your CV or resumes. In my opinion, the interviewers care more about the candidate's communication skills rather than the degrees. I was interviewed by two pharmacies, one is hospital pharmacy and one independent nursing home pharmacy. The nursing home pharmacy allowed me to work the next day once I purchased my own liability insurance, where I got from Professional Liability Insurance, malpractice insurance for healthcare and counseling professionals.. It cost me $140 a year with a coverage of 1-3 million dollars. On the other hand, the hospital pharmacy had to file a report to compliance department of its affiliated university to make sure everything would go by the 'book'. So based on my experience, it looks that independent pharmacy is relatively easier to enter. Four days after I started my internship there, the owner of the pharmacy decided to pay me.
  6. I just started my internship in a nursing home pharmacy in Louisiana. The board requires interns to compete at least 1500 hrs within a year before being licensed. What are the requirements from CA board?
  7. Hi I found on Amazon.com that the most recent edition of 'The APhA complete review for pharmacy' was published in 2007. Anyone ever used newer version to prepare 2011's NAPLEX? I'm afraid that books published 4 years ago could be out-of-date. THANKS!
  8. I just bookmarked the websites. You are so helpful!
  9. Thank you very much, Ankash. I will definitely check these out. BTW, are you licensed and where are you practicing?
  10. Hi Starshine, I have EAD valid for 2 years so I don't need any sponsorship for that period of time. In fact, since I start as a volunteer my boss didn't even touch this kind of questions. Obviously he would care a bit if I am on his payroll. The only thing he requested was that I have to pay for my own liability insurance which only cost me less than $150 annually.
  11. Thank you hirani, I will check out the link!
