  1. Indeed, ANOVA and regression are the same thing. ANOVA is often viewed as more general because you don't need to assign functional form.
  2. FB group for 2009? :) Oh, nevermind, I should read my private messages before I post. Hehe.
  3. Thanks Fierce! Directed at everyone, I was wondering, could plan for having a friend over one weekend or for two weekends, or am I guna be way too busy.
  4. Thanks a lot breakz and cjw :) I got into the Advanced Level. I'm super pumped. I've been wanting to attend for 2 years now, but last summer I had another research opportunity.
  5. In with full funding at the AEA program!!! So excited!
  6. Can we have an unofficial roommate finding session?? :)
  7. Having gone up to Durham recently, I will say that it is extremely cheap to live there. The food is significantly cheaper than in Florida. The housing is even cheaper than in Gainesville. I met up with a med student who rented a house with 2 others for 350. It was very decent, had a porch and backyard garden, washer and dryer, living room, dining room, and kitchen.
  8. The avatar says it all! Thanks everyone for all the support.
  9. Hello everybody! Anybody have exact knowledge about how much a student can make working for Fuqua or Sanford? For example, how much would a 10 hour a week job get you? Are there 20 hour jobs? More? Summer jobs? I'm trying to figure out how debt I could avoid if I went to duke. Thank you in advance :)
  10. The biggest of congratulations to Jeeves! It's good to have a TM insider with an NSF. :)
  11. Going to Duke this weekend, anyone from from TM going to be around?
  12. I just got into the Maryland SRI summer research program. Has anyone done this for economics in the past?
  13. Sheldon Ross? If the course is under the math department that's going to be a hard class. If they stick to the book, it'll be challenging but doable. I'm using that in my stochastic processes class and it is very difficult.
  14. Hmm, I wouldn't take all three. ODE and probability are in a different league than analysis. Much of the work in the first two courses is introductory, but the material covered is broad. I don't doubt that you could take them and not fail. But what would you really get out of it. There is no way you would be able to get your moneys worth out of analysis and two other classes, or even analysis and another class. I say either take the first two or analysis, and if you have time left over after being really good at analysis then study independently. Also, ODE and probability can be easily self-studied from any number of goods books. Analysis requires an instructor, unless you are a savant, hehe. Quality over quantity. I learned this the hard way. Good luck!
  15. One of the only people to get into Berkeley from my school, ever, was an athlete. But she also had a 4.0 in math.
  16. Put me down for a 100 on new account. It's very silly, but the intentions are very clear, so in the end it seems more funny than harmful.
  17. I believe this forum will highly appreciation the reppin' done by this person: http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs039.snc1/2611_1123678493666_1278223330_372604_8255014_n.jpg Can ya' match dat? Wurd!
  18. Adios UBC :( You were my favorite Canadian.
  19. Thank you, may you specify what other books students use in addition that they find useful? Also, do students ever take additional courses apart from the Ph.D. core, such as more math or finance at Fuqua?
  20. what books are used for the micro, macro and metrics phd sequences aside from the standard microeconomic theory, and casella?
  21. Visa where, US or UK? Or both? We're rooting for you!
  22. I just got admitted into it but then when I went to unclick another program because I didn't want to be considered for it anymore, it took away my other two admissions and said they were all under evaluations. It's not biggie, but was kind of annoying. It said I was admitted into the MMEF summer session. I don't even know what that curriculum entails? Is it just one summer program? I wanted to potentially take an accelerated QEM. Anyways, more info would help. Congrats everyone who got in and good luck to the rest!
