I think I should get my money back from them. Seriously, if you apply to a doctoral stream, and by April 15th you don't hear a single peep from them (not rejected, not accepted, not waitlisted) and they wont answer your calls, then what was really the point of every applying there? If I paid a guy 80 dollars to deliver say flowers for Mothers day, and he delivers them two weeks after the actual day, wouldn't I want the money back? I mean yea, even if you get the flowers eventually, there's not much point in them. Well in this case, the application was completely and utterly useless, so I would think I'm entitled to my money back.

You're not going to get a Fed job as in international. I would try something like the World Bank or the Poverty Lab which was mentioned. Usually you need to send a resume, a cover letter (both highlighting your research experience and computer skills) plus a transcript and a couple of letters of recommendation. Also, I would think most places hire at the beginning of the year to fill spots over the summer (people leave over the summer to go back to school).

I'm at the St Louis Fed, and one of the really cool things that I see about Wash U is the way that it has become very integrated with the Fed. This wasn't so true when I got here 2 years ago, but the new president (James Bullard) has pushed it. Also the new research director coming in wants to make it similar to the UMN-Minneapolis Fed relationship. There are some good guys here at the Fed, and I think it'll be a big advantage for those who want to do monetary/macro. They bring good people for seminars, and Wash U is only a 15 min train ride away from Wash U. Some economists here I think would even work with grad students, so thats just more people you have to work with. One thing I should add: I hope you dont mind the temperature shifting between 15 and 65 degrees in the span of about 4 hours.

As far as I know, it ranks well in Trade because it has Markusen who is one of the best, but other than that the school is not comparable any of those 3.

Just wondering what the feelings were about these 3 schools. UVA is the only one who hasnt offered funding yet. Interests are in international macro and trade. thanks

99% sure I'm going to Davis. Currently also have UVA and UT Austin (unfunded) as options. I've definitely discarded Austin. I want to visit uva, though im kinda cutting it close here. Anyone do a visit to UVA after the flyout? Is the Charlotesville airport the only way to get there?

Yea who knows. By the way, is there anyone here with some info on the quality of USC? They're not really a school you ever hear about, but their placements over the last couple of years seem really impressive.
