I have a question about Boston - who won the recent marathon held in this fine city?

Whew - talk about slacking off, I'm in Real Analysis right now and I can't concentrate at all. Perhaps I'm naive, but I can't seem to figure out what all these theorems about compactness have to do with microeconomics. Anybody want to answer that? What is it about Real Analysis that will be useful, anyway? (Knowing this grade doesn't matter at all doesn't help things one bit)

UCSB is straight econ, but we both plan (as far as I know) to enter the EES program.

It depends on where you live. In general, though, if you have a backpack and a bike you will be fine (and a friend with a car for when it's necessary). You will also get some exercise.

ARES - I'm happy things look like they are going to work out. It was painful watching all those rejections. Keep your nose down and in 2 (1?) years you will have a bevy of options. It is awesome seeing hard work pay off. Congrats.

And yes, things could have been far, far worse.

Sorry to hear about no funds at UMD, Enviro, but it will be good to see you at UCSB in August.

I'll be living in Santa Barbara, about 10 miles from the school. It will be a commute, but it's ok because I like riding my road bike. A LOT. We spent a few weeks looking for a place. Everything was really expensive, or else it had a fatal flaw that made it unlivable for our purposes.

I'm living with a lovely woman who you will no doubt have the pleasure of meeting should you attend UCSB. We have our place picked out already.

I'm guessing he just changes his signature and just says a meek "hi" this morning, and then goes about his day.
