  1. I'm on the funding waitlist and I similarly have not been able to get an answer from anyone in charge of admissions there. They're terrible at getting back to people...!
  2. Do whatever it best for you. I would not hesitate to tell that university you changed your mind. You could always present it as "match the other offers or I'm out" if that's something you're interested in. They'll have no trouble filling the spot. And if they give you a little attitude, don't sweat it, they'll have forgotten about very fast. I would wait until I've confirmed another offer before saying anything, but that's just me...
  3. carnegie mellon, econom* • thegradcafe.com Here are the admits, they were both accepted through website, and someone said they got an interview as well.
  4. I have no clue, but it would make sense if they did that... I'm sure my rejection letter shall come in the mail very soon
  5. Hey guys, has anyone heard from them? There was one post on gradcafe if my memory serves me right. Just wondering if I should stop hoping...
  6. True there was one financial econ, sorry about that, but the other two are 2009 econ admits as far as I can tell
  7. Technically if you look at the gradcafe there were 3 more admits after that one guy who claimed to be sixth and last. Anyways it seemed like last year the admits and rejects came in quite close to each other, so I'm surprised to see so little on gradcafe this year...
  8. Institution: Georgetown Program: Ph.D. Economics Decision: Waitlist for funding Funding: Nothing yet (decision is made in April) Notification date: 03/01/2010 Notified through: Email Posted on GF: No. Comment: waiting...
  9. I really can't say with any authority but I'm guessing if you haven't been rejected yet they might be keeping your file to be considered for admissions without funding.
  10. The way I understand it there are two phases to Gtown admissions. The first (with Dec deadline) is for admission with funding (including a funding waitlist, which I am on). Then they have another stage (April deadline) for admissions without funding so the results could be coming out as late as mid April... Question to anyone who knows: if I'm on the funding waitlist and I don't get funding, will I still be admitted to the program? Their letter is very unclear...

Was it a mass email or personalized?

Did you really get 39k? That's just insane, brilliant, but insane
  13. I don't know how much this is worth but right after Krugman won the Nobel prize, the econ dept said they would use this opportunity to expand the department, so this might be why they have so many admits this year. Also, based on what I can see on TM, the people who got into Princeton usually got into a bunch more top 10 schools as well. Choosing between the top 10 is sometimes is a little arbitrary, so Princeton has to expect a fair amount to decline.
  14. They both received the email at the same time. I think all admitted people have been informed at once
  15. They did that last year too, they're all over the place. More acceptances could come in but they'll probably not be funded so...
