The natural way to get into a Economics PhD program for anyone in Brazil (and, I believe, in many coutries outside US/Europe) is to go through one of the good Masters program here and then aply.
I have a friend who is on the top of his class at one of the best (if not the best) undergraduate school here in Brazil. I was in the same position and went through the Masters here to get to the PhD. Though, I was telling him that maybe he should look for a better Masters program overseas, because that could enhance his chances of getting into a good school.
I know there are good Masters programs in NYU, LSE and Toulouse. Does anyone have information on other good programs? Is it a good idea to try this or should he just go through the natural process?
