  2. Hello there! As you all know, there is tonnes to read all by yourself. It certainly leads to fluctuations in motivations. Yet you need to carry on and push yourself. Certainly, when the textbooks are not kind to you :) My question is -Leave aside motivations and all those fancy words, How do you study productively especially when you are all alone with very interesting distractions like testmagic, blogging etc ?

  8. Ok . Heres the thing. In shops, the laptop people always try to sell you more technology than what you actually need. I am just concerned in getting a processor which will be best compatible with STATA and basically the stuff we need in Grad schools.. Like those softwares. Would an i3 be better compatible or i5? I mean well known brands like HP would offer i5 with very very high rates and compulsorily a graphic card, which we really do not need. This would lead to over heating too. However, i5 would be faster too. So how do we choose?
  9. What is the best Configuration to use Economics Softwares? Like Stata and All?

  11. The best economics professor in my undegrad college is a huge fan and follower of History of Economic Thought. It pays less , agreed but isnt it more out of personal interest?
  12. Hello! As the title very aptly states, How does one find a practical balance in between all the above? Especially if one is a pampered child on home turf :p and you are out to fend for yourself at an international university, abroad? How does one conquer homesickness and at the same time study with full concentration and do daily chores too ? Are international students friendly? Living habits? Study Habits? Do people slog really hard ? :hmm:Especially when good grad schools are extremely tough .I am putting forth these questions as it would be the first time abroad , away from parents :( Nervous!
  13. I wanted to know , how much is the difference between the financial remunerations of PhD FInance Vs PhD Economics? I mean in case of academicia as well as private sectors?
  14. Hello, 1)Can anyone tell me how is the system exactly at toulouse? Are the electives selected the main criteria for allotting a particular specialisation later? 2)Is the overall performance counted or the performance in electives is given more weightage? So for eg if one has performed well by taking other electives without taking market finance or corp finance and getting into EMO? Or without taking natural resources and environment and getting into ERNEA? How does the evaluation work?

  21. I agree with APJ. If you have not visited the country where you are going to study for a significant amount of time, all the questions pertaining to the same are justified. I see a lot of people on this forum gathering information regarding the weather, accomodation, program quality etc. Its correct given the apprehension and the anxiety one has to go through...
