  1. Try the below; 1>Manhattan Quant Books. 2>OG10 Maths 3>Pick a topic you are weak at and search on this web site for questions on that topic. 4>Do Gprep tests as many times as possible..if you master the gprep questions you have a good shot at 50
  2. Neha, I can’t talk for everyone but Kaplan Tests are not something I will want to spend too much time on...I need the tests to motivate me not depress...the scoring is ridiculous...the verbal is convoluted...this is just my opinion...there are a lot of folks who have benefited greatly from Kaplan tests.
  3. Neha , Regarding time spent on preparation , it extremely relative ; eg..someone could have taken off from work for 3 weeks and spent around 8 hrs *21 days= 168 hrs which is equivalent to 2 months of prep if you were to spend 2 hrs a day;Dont go by my 4 weeks prep time as I took most of the days off during this period and my personality does not allow me to study for longer periods...short and focussed study is what always worked for me; THE KEY IS to be at the peak by the time of your exam; avixorld, They allow you to take anything uptill the entrance and store them in the locker ; You cannot take anything to the actual test room ;I stored some stuff in the locker and during (one)break I ate some of it;I did not take a break between quant and verbal...the reason being ...by the time you are finished with quant you are used to the environment and also are in a flow...you dont want to disrupt this flow of things;Only do this if you have practiced at home;
  4. My profile : Age: Mid 20's BE (local school in hyderabad , india ) MS(NYIT ,US..one of lower ranked schools) Currently working as Invesment Banker(Trainee); Applying to HBS ; My Hubby who is also my inspiration... Early 30's. B.Com (India) Senior Executive at Goldman Sacs.. GMAT(760) HBS Alumi... We are not some super smart people...so everyone can easily get to the score they want with some FOCUSSED prep.
  5. Mitzi , I can definetly say that your explanations in SC were intrumental in answering atleast a couple SC's correctly; I am sure you will do better than me ; Just consolidate all you have done...my only advise is... Lot of folks(incld me) are at 700+ level on SC and CR and at 600+ in RC's... unless we improve in this sections to the same level as the other sections...we will endup getting 600 level ques..in SC and CR as well.. this might not give us an opportunity to prove our powess in 700+ ques.
  6. Congrats!!! You are a genius; Wish I had your verbal score.. :)
  7. Manyu, Based on you prep scores ; I think it was not your day....retake your exam and do it very quickly before you loose the edge and start forgetting stuff;Participate in the forums.
  8. RC's were a little bit more convoluted than OG11; The Key is not to be alarmed...I was weak in RC's and all I did was OG11; My strategy was to do the first 3 RC's will complete focus and skim thru the last RC....otherwise I will never complete my exam on time
  9. My hubby is an alumni of HBS...want to take a short at it next year;
  10. Rohit , I have NOT used any other prep than the once mentioned in my post above;It is more to do with understanding why I got something wrong and try not to repeat the same mistake..than doing infinite questions; Also,when going thru SC's on the forum.....please be sure to read explanations from known guru's...because there could be a lot of wrong explanations out of ignorance by some(I am one of them)...my 2 cents.
  11. Mitzi, The RC's were short but complicated...more like the once on Gprep; CR's were OG level with one that was very difficult to understand... I think you will definetly do better than me ; I was always amazed by your explanations for SC's;;Quant was a little difficult with more questions on number properties; I will login regularly to see you debreif...:)-
  12. Finished with GMAT Journey;Got a 750...better than what I was aiming for...:)-
  13. Mitzi , I just answered out of excitement...i gave my GMAT today 750.. :)-; You are soo good in verbal...why did you not give the exam yet...u are my guru...cant argue your explanation is perfect but I did not prepare to this detail
  14. Actual: 750 GMATPrep: 600, 760 Manhattan GMAT: 700 Kaplan:600
  15. Hi Everyone ,Thanks for all the help ; I pre-poned the exam and gave it today (in the AM);Got a 750 )-; there are soo many gurus in the forum here , I solute all of them;To name a few..., Mitzi , Effective Factor ,Star_321 I studied for the GMAT without the assistance of an expensive test prep class over the course of 4 weeks.My first step in this process was doing a search on Amazon.com and determining which books seemed worthwhile for my preparation. After reading some reviews on Amazon as well as doing significant Goggling, I decided to buy the following texts: - Official Guide for GMAT Review, 11th Edition - Kaplan GMAT 2009 with CD - MGMAT SC and Quant Books. - CR Bible. Took a Gprep1 exam without preparation and scored a 600….mostly because of a good Quant sectional score; Then found this site + completed all my prep books and within 4 weeks I improved my score drastically; My study pattern was similar to star_321 and lost_into_wild; Definitely read thru the debrief of star_321……he is the best; I did not have the luxury of time as I had to deal with work and family obligations; I had 4 weeks of prep time and was aiming to get a 700+; The below are(or IS..not sure) exactly what I did…. 1. Wrote a Gprep exam without prep;(3 hrs +1 hr review) 2. Read MGMAT SC Book ( 3 hours) 3. Read CR Bible… partially the later part is beyond GMAT (5 hours); 4. Read Quant from MGMAT Quant Books…just Number Property and Word Translations(10 hours) 5. Started working on OG11 ( 1 complete week); 6. Wrote free sample MGMAT Test (Got 700) 7. Wrote Kaplan Test (600..not sure abt the breakup ,a waste of time) 8. Started participating in the forum…esp Sentence Correction. 9. Wrote GPrep2 (760 (Q50,V..not sure…44 I think).. Botom Line, it is not about quantity but quality; I don’t think GMAT goes beyond there official guides in verbal;I will be travelling(international) for the next 4 weeks so might not be able to respond.Send me a PM and I will answer as and when I get a chance;
