  1. This will not work for Stata 10. All the torrent version will bug your regression output. Here is another suggestion - Stata is probably installed on every computer on campus so... copy and paste.
  2. I heard U Wash is quite good in econ. Never heard about the other 2.
  3. In my view, Econ student can always get finance position if they want to (they can always take the finance sequence in business school). In terms of overall education Harvard is definitely superior. If your friend is 100% sure that he will do finance, then it doesn't hurt to go to Booth, but Harvard Econ will leave his doors open. I understand that at Booth you will still have option do some joint program with Econ department, but I don't think its all that common. The relationship between HBS and Harvard Econ seems to be stronger. Also, in the end, you can do great work at both places, so the difference is reputation and selectivity. While Chicago/Booth is good here, Harvard is simply the best.
  4. The admit list has been posted. Congrats to everyone admitted and I hope that you all will choose to matriculate.
  5. I think they sent it out one by one. Last year the email I got was personalized. But again, they could have somehow automated the personalization.
  6. My bad for making you guys anxious. Between I used the word 'should' though, so it was not a sure thing. But by now I am sure that it is out - someone has already posted an admit in the other thread.
  7. A case where more information brings disutility. Sorry guys
  8. MIT! The thing is that not only do we have big names in Development, we have many of them. Duflo, Banerjee, Townsend to name a few. But of course Harvard and Yale are also excellent choices. However, if you are sure you want to do Development, you simply need to come here.
  9. Just a heads up for those of you waiting.
  10. I believe last year was 29, or was it 31. Can't believe it has been a year already. Everyone who made it past the wait list gets funding. I recall that not everyone receive the same offer though.
  11. Find a job and reapply next year. I am not aware of any decent program that will take you in during winter/spring.
  12. my bad, please disregard my post then. I was talking from personal experience which does not apply here.
  13. I think that it ranges from 25-30k. Also some university have different levels of fellowship. The highest level are usually around 30k (for 9 months). You can earn more by doing TA during the term or RA during the break. I recall that Yale is more generous than the other top schools.
  14. I would not worry too much about this. These offers represent a very small fraction of the total number of offers they will eventually make. Also , I understand that they do not necessarily give this the strongest applicants, but instead to those who have high likelihood of matriculating (if applicant reject fellowship, department might not be able to relocated it).
  15. I am contemplating clicking it long enough to bring MIT over Harvard to #1; or I can just write a script. Does every click get equal weight?
