The almost universal use of antibiotics
Infinite7 replied to accenture's topic in GMAT Critical Reasoning
I'm with B. In C even if you change the type of antibiotic used it doesn't change the fact that if you're using the same dosage the good bacteria is going to die and the bad bacteria is going to be resistant. B is within the scope it's right -

It has to be A -
Agreed it is C
-
I agree A is just about right

A has the most parallel construction from the rest of the options. -

Hey pzazz, E is definitely out b/c it's an awkward construction. D is out because the construction is awkward as well and instead of using after to express 'from then to now', since is the correct word to use. B is also out for the same reason (i.e after should be since). C is the best answer since the is added, IMO. -
A and E are out because of the wrong use of 'was'. C is out since it uses the adverb 'economical' to describe the noun 'conditions' (adverbs should describe adjectives, verbs and other adverbs). D is out since 'incapable of understanding economics' changes the meaning of the original meaning of the sentence besides the reason 800 gave you. So we are left with the right answer B.

I'd go for E. Best constructed sentence in my opinion.

As Vgp said parallelism is being tested here. The sentence tells us about what the pigeons can do and so in a parallel construction can sense..., see..., detect..., sense..., and identify... in C.... is much more reasonable than the rest of the other choices. -

We all agree that A is out because of S-V disagreement. E is out because of the wrong use of becoming. IMO C and D are out since to use is wrongly used. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. -
Yes the use of A or An does matter because the words that you're going to use after those articles must either begin with vowels or sound like the word begins with a vowel. Eg. An opinion, an elephant, etc... A man, a comedian, a butterfly, etc... But in this case the sentence is constructed to emphasis something using especially. Especially means to stress upon something (a word that is appropriately used in A, B and C). Specially means extraordinary or exceptional, it means special (a word that is not needed in this sentence). C can be eliminated because "the capability of the respiratory system in dealing" is wordy. B can be eliminated because "because of diminishing the respiratory system’s capability of dealing" changes the meaning of the sentence. A is correct.

1 -We can eliminate A, B and E since the beginning phrase is describing the woman rather than anything else. 2 -I'm leaning toward D because I have doubts about whether a comma and 'and' is well used in the sentence rather than IMO the more appropriate 'which' (with a comma before it). So IMO C is out. D is best. Opinions anyone??? -
Hey everybody! Why can't the answer be B? A makes sense but I was leaning a bit more toward B... can somebody please explain :)

Thank you Ashuto! I appreciate you giving me your opinion on my essay... very much :). But in the first paragraph I wrote about my opinion saying... "I believe" and you said that was a weak construction? Secondly, in the last paragraph I wrote that people need precate lives and personal activivties to remain human to use the word "human" metaphorically... was I wrong to do that???? And finally, I don't understand what you mean when you say that I need to use simpler sentences, using the subject - verb - object construction, could you please explain to me how to use that construction? Thank you so much ... again :D

Help regarding Subjunctive Mood

What's the source of the question? If it is 1000 SC, then there are a lot of errors in the OAs. -
I stand corrected. It is E.
-
Hi Ranjeet, The reason is because the actions of King Alfred happened before the actions of the invading Danes. Therefore, you need to use the past perfect "had + past tense" to correct the sentence. (IMO)
-
I agree with Naso D is correct. C kind of creates an awkward sentence. I mean, how many times can people lose their virginity? In D the sentence properly states that more people lose their virginity, making a clearly constructed sentence.
-
A is best choice of the rest IMO
-
C is the answer. B/c in the first two options there the subject/verb agreement has been violated. In E would become makes the action seem as if it is going to occur sometime in the future. D is just awkward.
