"While I am in India, If I once again go to consulate with I-20 of Univ 'Y' and ask them to give new F1 for univ 'Y', and in case I get rejected, then whether F1 for Univ 'X' is valid or not?" Thanks jrcolmena and dr watson for ur replies. But my problem is it ok if I contact Z progam's faculty advisor for aid, when X program's professor has assured me to take in with aid? Will the profs be contacting each other regarding students? Gulliver

Hi all, I got an admit in 'Z' program in 'W' univ without aid and a temporary faculty advisor is appointed. I am in a big dilemma now, since another prof from some other program (say X ), who is affiliated to 'Z' program, had assured me an assistantship in X program. But X program's decisions are not out yet. Shall I contact 'Z' program's faculty advisor regarding assistantship etc? or shall I wait for X program's decisions? Pls respond. gulliver

Awhig, SUNY B ppl never updated their online application status page. My online application status page still shows N/A. But it seems they have announced their decisions. Call the admisssions secretery of your department and find out abt ur application. There was some problem with my application also. All the best Gulliver

Hi all, Thanks a lot for that replies. After much hesitation, I called up the prof. on whose insistence I applied for Ph.D. He said that, there are large no.of highly qualified students are there, so admission commitee made a decision to change my major as well as program. Ironically, I wrote a suck letter to that prof asking my chances of working with him, if I could able to secure an admission into MS program. He insisted me to apply for Ph.D. When I called him up, he said funding chances are very less. If I could get aid at some other univ, then I can go there. I am really disappointed with this decision, since it was my only safe bet. Any way, I am going to accept the offer. How about the aid scene at Buffalo after going there? Shall I contact other profs regarding RAship? I am really interested in going for a Ph.D. Pls guide me, Gulliver
