  1. Can anybody provide some idea that where one should apply for PhD Finance, OB, Strategy or Management with a Bachelor Degree in Business. The downside is: -Lack of formal research experience -Lack of a Masters Degree The Upside is: -Fantastic GMAT and GRE Scores -GMAT = 740 -GRE V=700 Q = 780 -Great references -Great work experience
  2. can you post your breakdown as well. Where you are located?
  3. Your intution is extremely powerful. Yes this is an optimistic salary. But this salary is available for only 2-3% lucky grads who somehow are able to get a FULLTIME EMPLOYMENT AT FORTUNE 500 COMPANY rest everything is a game.
  4. I mean if you were aiming for 100 and apply to average university then it is a good score but if your are one of those ambitious applicants who want to apply for MBA program at HBS then it is not a good score. HBS has made clear thier brutal policy to discourage everybody from admission who score less than 109.
  5. Yes Sir it Does. HBS recieves thousands of application and BTW this 109 score requirement is also put in place to filter candidate on basis of English abilities. They really want shining and polished candidate. They want people who don't just speak english fluently but speak IN MOST UNDERSTANDABLE AMERICAN WAY. Though Law School requires more Language abilities than Business School but to apply for JD program at HLS (Harvard Law School) an intn'l Candidate needs only 100 whereas to apply for MBA program at HBS and Intn'l Candidate needs 109 why? Because MBA program is highly demanded by Internationals and HBS need good reasons to filter applications. I mean look at the tone of language at HBS website which says "AC DISCOURAGES any score less than 109" they used word "discourage" so intention is clear.
  6. Just browse forum more throughly and I am sure you will get the answer of your question. PhD finance admission is very competitive especially with financial aid. Second thing is that, MBA is definitely supportive but when it comes to PhD finance, AC try to find the chances of applicant's success in research program. They want to ensure that applicant has the enough research skills and other skills so he can really contribute to the body of Knowledge. Now within PhD finance there are several areas to conduct research but a right candidate knows in advance that what he is going to research and what are the requirements of successful completion of program. These things are important at the time when you are planning to apply for PhD finance program. Because as much you are prepared as your preparedness is reflected through application material you send for consideration before AC. What research experience you have? What area of finance you want to choose for research? Are you mathematically and statistically ready to take assignment at PhD Finance level? Do you have enough background in Calculus, Advanced Calculus, Multivariable calculus, alzebra, real analysis, partial differentiation, advanced statistics? Do you write or have written publishable quality of academic material? Think around these questions, decide area of focus and send email to atleast dozen B-school enquiring about PhD admission. requirements
  7. Kunal: Do TOEFL evaluators look for clarity, pronounciation of voice? I think they do. To get 30 in speaking, one should be accent less because if you speak good but with heavy or little Indian accent, you may mispronounce something. But this was great luck of yours that you got 30 in speaking.
  8. I said clearly "If true" which means that genuinity of this admission profile is conditional.
  9. Dear ACCTPHD: Thank you very much for your addition to list. I have added to list. Calculus I -Calculus II -Multidimensional calculus -Real Analysis -Stochastics processes -Linear Algebra -Probability -Advanced Statistics Please add if other courses are also important.
  10. Dear PhD Applicant/Forum members/admission consultants: As we all know that regardless of repute of University, A candidate must have some sort of mathematical background in order to get in PhD prgram and also survive among peers. In this thread please look at following courses of Mathematics for PhD finance, later we will discuss best univrsities and colleges to get these courses in terms of fees and quality of instruction. -Calculus I -Calculus II -Multidimensional calculus -Real Analysis -Stochastics processes -Linear Algebra Please add if other courses are also important.
  11. Dear Finance_guy: Remembering the dates, date of birth, Miller's Mother's Blood group, Modigilani's father's date of birth and all other information MAKE NO CHANGE to the purose and meaning of the post neither it undermines the interpretation of post. It also makes no difference whether model was created by BOTH or ANY ONE of them because this doesn't make any change in MM Model. These all are JUST DEMOGRAPHIC DETAILS or information which have nothing to do with Capital restructuring. All areas of business such as strategy/management etc are provided with slash "/" which mean I am open for any one program among these areas. This is implied and obivous that PhD prgram will be any of these areas NOT all of these areas.
  12. Though I have nothing to do with FPGEE but why they will not accept score from other countries? What is wrong with them. Should ETS close its centers around the world?
  13. Those who finished TOEFL ibt test today, March 20th, Saturday, Please post your experience
  14. Dear figuringout: Thank you very much. Thanks for this obvious advice. I can't believe that there are people on this forum who also talk about the relavant issues such as PhD admission other than font and eye glasses. Yes I agree with you. Even I am not running behind Wharton. Wharton is sample to get an idea of competition and profile needed to get in PhD program. As you said very well that "Find a school which fits to your interest". I also add something to this is this way "Find a school which fits to your interest and welcomes you instead you die for it" Overall good modusvivendai.
  15. No I am NOT trolling at all. I started with sensible questions related to admission profile and you people start talking about font and blindness which has nothing to do with Admission. Please keep forum on its track and don't ask members to type as per your personal preferences such as font. If you don't like font then don't read and reply. You and any other who has issue with eyesight or partially blind should not read difficult post. These type of requests such as font change ruins the scope of forum. We are here to discuss admission NOT somebody's eyesight or Font preference.
