The lecture is describing the disadvantages of tidal power. On the other hand, the passage is about the advantages of generating power by using tides. To start with,the professor says that tidal power produces only fraction of energy. It can not full fill the demand of energy. In contrast of this, the passage states that here are two high tides and two low tides in a day. So four times energy can be produced in a single day by using tidal conditions. It is very different what is stated in the lecture. Also, according the passage, tidal energy is very environmental friendly. It is non polluting and it has no green house effect. However, the professor states that because of tidal energy, birds, vegetation and fishes are suffering a lot. He gives example to make his point more strong. Because of barrens and bridges, fishes are not able to swim freely in between of sea and rivers. Quality of water is degrading as mud and sediments are mixing in water. Again, the lecturer says that because of bridge and barrens, boats and ships can not move freely. They are not able to catch fishes as much as earlier. So it effects the economy of local coastal areas. To conclude, the professor casts doubts on the key element of the passages.

Topic- People learn in different ways. Some people learn by doing things; other people learn by reading about things; others learn by listening to people talk about things. Which of these methods of learning is best for you? Use specific examples to support your choice. My response- Learning is a life time process. We learn things through out our life. Some learn things by listening others like teachers or leaders while, other learn from doing things. My favorite method to learn things is by reading. It is a systematic approach to learn things. I can learn things at my own pace. Most important, I can refer my book many times. To start with, A book gives us a systematic learning. In a book, everything is written in a precise and organized way. Step by step, an author describes things. For example, I like to learn how to cook food. A book will guide me step by step. It tells the consequences of all steps so that I can know that I am going in right path. On the other hand, if I learn from a listening, there is a chance that I miss some part of information. In listening process, I have to make notes and there are pretty high chances of missing information. Again, if I learn from my own actions, it will take lot of time. Without guidance, there are chances to get failure. In addition to precise and organised manner of learning, I can refer a book many times. A book is written by an author. So I can refer a book as many times as I want it. From my personal instance, I am a student of masters- marketing. After understanding the concept of marketing in my regular school days, I like to repeat them on examination days as well. Learning from listening or by doing things myself, I have not record so I can not see them again. Along with systematic learning and ready made reference , I can learn things at my own pace. I have a book with me. If I am not able to understand concepts, I can read it again and again. Well, in listening, one has to follow the pace of a speaker. It is also possible that the speaker is not very good in teaching. In this case, a student feels bored and lost interest from the lecture. Again, in doing things, there is no one to guide, it will take too much time in completing the task. Sometimes, by spending so much time in completing things and getting failure repeatably, one losses interest. To conclude, learning from a book is my preferable method. It is a systematic method to learn things. I can refer it again and again and can learn from my own pace.

It is a very crucial question about spending money more on transportation or on improving roads and highways. In my view, improving roads and highways are more important than spending money on improving public transportation. If there are good roads and transportation, public transportation will be automatically improved. Accidents will be less and commute time will be less. So people will like to travel by public transportation. It will lead more money which will improve investment on public transportation. For progress of any country, transportation system plays a very important role. Efficient transportation system attracts more investment in an area. Raw material can be transported from any part of the world. Labor can come from any part of country. Good transportation system is not only good for public(cheap, comfortable and frequent services) or for industry (to get raw material and labor) but also for government (revenue). However, improving transportation, People will use more public transportation which helps in saving money and resources. Instead of using their own car, people will prefer to go by buses which consumes less diesel or petrol and it will lead less traffic on roads. But it can be achieved my improving roads and highway conditions also. If roads are good and connectivity is more, people prefer to go by public transports which lead more investment in public transportation. More public transportation attracts more people to travel on public transports and it will lead less traffic on roads and saving of resources. In conclusion, I think improvement on roads and improvement in public transports are complimentary to each other. But improving on roads should be ultimate goal of government because it leads more transportation automatically. Less traffic, less accident and good connectivity will improve people preferences to go by public transportation.

Today’s modern era is a world of advertisement. In every walk of life, there is huge competition. It has made advertisement the more important. The loudest you are, the most noticeable you will. Without advertisement, there are lot of worthy things around our life, become unnoticeable. In my view, advertisement has great impact on people’s behavior. In every walk of life, we can find advertisement. Radio, television, newspaper, mobile even when one reading electronic mail, s/he can find advertisement in his mail box. Advertisement creates needs. It can be possible that without seeing advertisement, I do not have that need but after seeing or hearing, I get urge to purchase that particular thing. For example, I have mobile. It is working properly but after seeing advertisement of another mobile with more features, I want that mobile now. Advertisements are the best way to create needs among the consumers. Advertisement is the mirror of our society. Advertisers design advertisement according to the characteristics of society. They try to influence consumer behaviors according to their emotions. That’s why they make different advertisement for different age groups or different communities. For example, a kid wear advertisement tries to influence kid’s behavior how to wear clothes or which color is better to wear. Advertisement helps in making life better. It motivates us to work hard so that we can purchase better things. It gives knowledge about new products and motivates us to make it better than previous. It is the great source of competition and motivation to invent things better. Advertisement has bad impact also. It motivates us towards materialism. We want new things all the time which motivates us to earn more money. We do not have time for each other. I like to do those things from which I can earn more money instead of sitting with friends or family members. To get luxury life, I can be motivated to do wrong things also. In conclusion, every coin has two faces. The same way, advertisement motivates us to earn more money. However, it depends on a person, how he earns money. It tries to influence human behavior. Again, it depends on our maturity that what message we should take from advertisement. In my view, advertisement is the great source of knowledge. It motivates to work hard and make life more pleasure.

A person who suffers for others, sacrifices his life to save life of others, is a military man. If my government has announced that it wishes to build military base near my community, I will support this thought. It will provide opportunities of new employment as well as new business. If new people will come, It will increase the demand of local commodities. The same way, new business will grow to satisfy their needs. Local people will get more employment. Because of opening new military base, social facilities will improve. New hospitals, new schools will open. Infrastructure will improve. City will be more clean. Roads will be better. By seeing military life, people will be more motivated to join military. Their life and activities inspire people to join military. In other areas of life also, military people will inspire everyone as we see them as a respectable citizen. Discipline, patience are some virtues, we can learn from them. How can one stay calm and live life fully in adverse conditions, are the best virtues which we should learn from them. City will be more safe. As security guards will be in city all the time, city will be more safe from thieves. But every coin has two faces. One is good and another is bad. If people are more in city,demand of commodities will be more which makes things more costly. House rent will be more.Traffic on the roads will increase. It may be attract bad elements in city. In conclusion, I think every flower grows with thorns. But main concern should be on flower instead of thorns. In my view, advantages of military camp is more than its disadvantages. Social up gradation is more important to live.

Do you think microwave ovens and fast food restaurants are beneficial to society? Food is the primary need of a man. We do work to get money so that we can get good quality of food. But in today's competitive world, no one has time to cook. We need ready made solutions to quench our hunger. In our fast life, micro oven and fast food play very important role. Cooking in micro oven, is easy as well as less time consuming. Same way, fast food restaurants provide delicious food just in time. The easiness in cooking food in today's era, is amazing. Microwave bought revolution in our life. It takes very little time and preserves nutrition values of food. We can cook variety of things with pressing few buttons.People was used to spend long hours in preparing food.But now they can get variety of delicious food in little time. They can use their time more efficiently. Same way, fast food restaurants, bring variety of foods. It is common now to go out and have food outside to have fun. One can get different culture food without knowing how to make it. It is the way to have fun with food without spending time in cooking. But it is also health hazardous.In my view, food is the most important need of human being and one should know what to eat. Fast food is the main cause of increasing number of heart decease and obesity. Pizza, burger, Macroni are the some example of junk food which one should avoid. There are lot of products in market to avoid fat like low fat cooking sprays, sugar free. One should know what to eat and how much to eat. In conclusion, Micro oven and fast food restaurants make life very easy. In our fast life, people still like to eat good. Micro oven and fast food restaurants make life very convenient. Today we can get variety of foods with little efforts and in spending less time. Today food is not a work but it is a medium of getting fun.
