  2. 130"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society." Children are the wonderful blessing of the happiness and originality, helping to create a positive family, which in turn becomes the basis of the society depending upon. Thus, the manner people raise their children largely influences the further of the society. Unfortunately, except of the formal education, people now still have not learned how to raise children well. Admittedly, within the field of formal education, great achievement has been gained about the manner for raising children£©. Formal education has become one of the key words in modern times. Government and society, under this circumstance, invest a large amount of money upon it and gain their interests in the form of groups of enlightened young men and women. Indeed, the intellectual level of all the human beings makes an apparent progress and achievement and also because of this, the civilization of the society, to some degree, is much superior to the former. Cheerily, children, as the fortunate creature in the twenty-first century, get their right to be civilized and educated. However, many serious youth problems cannot be ignored. Report from JECB (juvenile education center of Brazil) shows that during the nearest years the total number of juvenile delinquency reached to 8317, increasing 41.3% compared to the number in 1980. Now, children increasingly face the more difficult situation than what people have ever foreseen: indulge in video games, resort to much violent behavior, commit various crime including stealing, killing others, cheating in the public, or abusing drugs, and even suicide themselves. Serious problems about youth, once again, hit the realization of adults. Facing up to these problems rising recently, people begin to ask themselves: do we indeed have carried out the proper method for raising our children? Do we indeed provide the suitable and the very things they want? Is it us that incite these phenomena instead of children themselves? Education, in this respect, towards children should not restrict in the intellectual and the formal field. Traditional education usually lays much emphasis upon the intellectual level of children and seldom includes the roles the family, the community and the society play in shaping the character of them, which, though imperceptive, sets a definite structure of ideology and exerts far-reaching impact upon the thought of children. As a consequence, the generation today is indeed abundant in kinds of knowledge and experience but embracing a blank spirit in heart and mind. The moral standard, the correct value, the reasonable way of thinking is absent. Virtually, all of them are the core curriculum for every child. ¡°The purpose of education," Jefferson have mentioned in his book," is not merely to let children master knowledge, but also to make them become the civilized citizens." We can have a world without brilliant scientists, leaders, artists and so forth, but we cannot live in a word full of criminals, violence, and obscenity. After all, to be a boor but healthy person is far better than to be an intelligent but heinous one. "Education commences at the mother's knee," Hose Bellou, a famous British educator, once said:" any word within the hearsay of the child tends towards the foundation of character." What we should do for the children, as a whole, should not been restricted about the physical environment, the abundant knowledge but indeed need the care in their thought, their ideas and their way of thinking which are all concerning with the ideology they hold. Only in this way, the children can help bring about a better society in further.
  3. 121"At various times in the geological past, many species have become extinct as a result of natural, rather than human, processes. Thus, there is no justification for society to make extraordinary efforts, especially at a great cost in money and jobs, to save endangered species." Nowadays, people begin to pay increasing attention to these endangered species. However, some opponents regard it just a waste, for they think these categories of animals and plants become extinct as a result of natural process, and trying to save them is aberrant from the code of nature. It may be reasonable. In another sense, however, it cannot negate all the protection for saving these endangered species. First of all, human being, as a member of nature, has responsibility for maintaining the balance of the world. A scientific report appearing on Nature, one kind of the most famous and authoritative magazine, has said that one special type of mouse in Australia recently was found out the unique behavior while facing up to the difficult period when the food, one kind of plant, became less and less [banana], that they would change their skin color to attract their natural enemies or even suicide themselves in large quantities in order to ensure this certain plant had their enough time to grow well. Even the animal have firmly knows the importance of maintaining the balance of the nature, and then what about human being? Should not they do something to try to keep nature in order? What is more, it is human being who brings the disaster for other creatures in the world. During the past 100 years, the very time that industry became prevalent all over the world, nearly 120,0354 kinds of animals have disappeared, and 134,030 kinds of plants, comparing to the roughly 2311 creatures during 1600~1900, which is shown by the statistics survey conducted by IEPUN ( international environment department of United Nation ). Have a look at the circumstance around us. Hundreds of thousands of birds lose their lives because of no home left to them as a consequence of the exceedingly felling trees; a large number of fish can live no longer because of the severe pollution of water; wild animals become extinct for there is no suitable environment provided for their life because of the fierce actions of human being. People, in this respect, do have accountability for protecting and saving these endangered species. Simply put, without protection and saving, the world may become dull and inanimate. It is all right for some people to claim to save the time and money. Nevertheless, if the world in the end embraces only one kind of creature-human being, what will the world be like? Consider that there are no longer birds flying in the sky, on fish in the river, no sheep wandering on the lawn, no strong elephants appearing in the forest in India, no lovely panda any more, and so on. The whole world is then surely deprived of the vivid and beautiful scene. If so, what is the sense for the existence of human being, and, what is the sense of the much money and time saved? In addition, saving the endangered species also do benefit to the scientific research. Many precious kinds of creatures in the list of the endangered species are indeed every excellent object for research. All of them, to some degree, offer the best and direct evidences for the evolutional process of the creature in the world, which contributes to the better understanding of human themselves and nature as well. Admittedly, the effort put upon the protection should have its limit . Disappearing of species sometimes is just the normal phenomenon of nature. We can try to save something precious but unwisely to save all kinds at all cost, which has betrayed the code of nature. To sum up, it is quite correct and reasonable for people to make extraordinary efforts to save the endangered species. Though much money and time may be cost because of this, the benefit is far better than the harm it will bring to us.
  4. Dear imranpola: I have read your issue. It is quite well. But the seventh part of your article seems to have not been completed. You may cut out this paragraph in my opinion.
  5. Will you be so kind as to amend my writing? I really need some suggestion¡£¡£¡£ :shy:160"The most essential quality of an effective leader is the ability to remain consistently committed to particular principles and objectives. Any leader who is quickly and easily influenced by shifts in popular opinion will accomplish little." What is a leader supposed to do in order to be an effective one? Having seen most of the brilliant leaders in history were all firmly sticking to their ideal and belief, some people suggest that one should have the ability to remain consistently committed to particular principles and objectives in order to be an effective leader. Any leader, they have a way of thinking, who is quickly and easily influenced by shifts in popular opinion will accomplish little. While, in my view, though basic principals are needed absolutely, the opinions from public, in large scale, have no reason to be set aside. Admittedly, basic principals and objectives for an effective leader must be maintained all the time. The opinion from the majority of people is not always the correct one; the interests of the majority of people are not always legal and reasonable. An effective leader, under this circumstance, is supposed to make his own decision based upon his inner principals and objectives including the aloft morality, correct value and reasonable way of thinking. Giving up of these, any leader is doomed to be abandoned by people in the end. However, the leader has responsibility to balance these opinions from the public. ¡°Officials are elected by people." Jefferson once said in all seriousness:" and they ought to be on the behalf of people--do what people ask them to do." So is the same with a leader, no matter he is in the political field or business world. Any leader, in now democratic society, is elected as a delegate from a certain group. And what he decides to do should thus be based on the interests of people. Especially when the interests among people within the group differ from one to another, the task for a leader is more thorny and hard--it is left to him to make a balance among them as much as possible. The public opinions, in this respect, must be taken into consideration to decide. If not, how can he be thought to be a leader, saying nothing of the effective? What is more, a more correct and comprehensive decision can be formed when the popular opinions can be taken into account by leaders. Different opinions always rise from various groups of people, and these opinions, to some extent, form from the various angles. All of them become the affluent resource for a leader who as a single person is unlikely to observe the situation in all its aspects. ZhouEnLai, for example, a famous politician and former premier in China, was well known for his habit that he often went into the civilian's homes and listened carefully to their speak, no matter it was a complaining or commending one. Undoubtedly, leaders, in this way, are more likely to have the disinterested and comprehensive attitude which is highly appreciated by the public. In addition, it makes more likely to reach the goal once the popular opinions are included. A leader, without taking the public opinions, though having a great blueprint down in his heart, may find it out hard to make it come true, for the measure or action, once aberrant greatly from the public thinking, easily arouses resentment or even abhor and resistance. What the leader holds in mind then becomes nothing but merely a blank paper. This can be illustrated by the training of a wild elephant. If the trainer just beats it and forces it to do what is expected of him but pay little attention of its physical condition¡ªwhether is it hungry or tired? Whether is it too little to do such a heavy job? Whether is it high-spirited to do work at this time? The most possibility is that the elephant in the end becomes a man-killer instead of a good job-helper. To make his measures sure to attain its goal, a leader, in this respect, cannot avoid being influencing by the public. Without basic principals and objectives held in heart, a leader is impossible to get respect and reputation from the public; without reference to the popular opinion, a leader cannot make any real achievements. To be an effective leader, in this sense, one needs a balance between these two: meet the interests of majority of people by listening to their opinions but not give up personal principal.
