  1. I gotta agree with APJ on this one. I can understand how a fresh out of school PhD in Financial Economics may not be able to command the 100k-200k salary, but with experience the valuable research and strategies that they bring to a corporation should warrant such pay in not to long of a time frame, right? Keep in mind that said individual is coming from a top school/program with hopefully good references and grades.
  2. I suppose the program attended effects final pay consideration by the employers, but I still would like someone who is trying to or already has obtained the degree to give me some kind of inside information on pay expectations.... Bump!
  3. Perhaps in academia when versed against a plain Economics PhD, but outside of academia do you have any proof that a PhD in Finance demands more pay than a PhD in Financial Economics, a degree that brings important disciplines from both Finance and Economics together?
  4. Do you think someone possessing a Masters in Financial Economics could demand the same salary? assume they are graduated from said Princeton University as well. There's a fine line between Econ and Finance, what I'm wondering is how does the employer differentiate between a degree in Financial Economics and its cores of Finance and Economics in terms of pay?
  5. Does it specify what level of degree these graduates are obtaining to demand these salaries?
  6. Very interesting, I've heard of higher starting salaries for persons possessing the Masters or PhD level degree in this field compared to persons possessing just a Economics degree, anyone know why this may be the case? Could it be that the degree brings together the closely related arts of Economics and Finance to offer a complete degree favorable to employers?
  7. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any information on the Salary of a Financial Economist. I've heard that more Universities are beginning to offer Masters in Financial Economics degrees, UofT for example, recently started a collaborative program of the Department of Economics and the Rotman school of Management called MFE (Masters in Financial Economics Program) If anyone has any information on the salaries and job outlook for someone possessing this degree, or a PHD in Financial Economics from a top school like UofT, feel free to leave a comment.
