  1. I realize that the mood is Subjunctive and so the option C is correct , but can somebody explain as to what grammatical rule is being violated in (D) as per the OG's explanation: the usage - 'requires a bank' :hmm::mad: is ungrammatical??
  2. I realize that the mood here is Subjunctive and so the option C is correct , but can somebody explain as to what grammatical rule is being violated in (D) as per the OG's explanation: the usage - 'requires a bank' :hmm::mad: is ungrammatical??
  3. My doubt stands like this :- Its a tricky one indeed.. From the Passage:- "international economic environment will be shaped increasingly not by governments or international institutions, but by the interaction between governments and global corporations" Isn't 'international regulatory institution', an 'international institution/ global corporation' ?? I think, it is and which makes (B) an element of shifting economy... Explanation posted by spartacuss also makes sense ! Somebody needs to resolves the ambiguity@@
  4. My doubt stands like this:- from the Passage: "but by the interaction between governments and global corporations"
  5. Can someone justify OA for {42} .. I think, {A} suits better. Kindly correct if wrong! from passage:: Investments in service like thos in production and distribution, must be balanced against other types of investments on the basis of direct, tangible benefits such as a cost reduction and increased revenues.
  6. Dear shingivyas, Can you kindly post the OA for all questions...I gave it a try and would like to check, how I did!
  7. I would go with 3 .. from the passage : Although Professor Crone’s arguments are creative, they fail to convince her readers that her representation of Meccan trade should be taken as fact. 1) asserts of her arguments being original
  8. According to me A cannot be the ans because of following reason: From the passage, its a "superclass (X) does something & so subclass (Y) must also be doing it " kind of relation.. X = Reptiles Y = Aligator In (A) X = Green Plants & Grass may not necessarily be Green => 'Y here is not a subset of X'..classic fallacy guys !! Correct me if I am missing something ..I am newbie here and have recently started prep.. Only (D) fits in as per my analysis of the argument and options..Good que by the way!
  9. Representative data sample A population study based on a 'Representative data sample', a sample just large enough to allow for decently accurate projections found that in 1975 there had been a dramatic reversal of a 10 year tendency toward migration of Litivia residents older than 60 to small towns and rural regions both within and across state boundaries. This finding turns out to have been in error. The problem was that people who had moved to Litivia from abroad were accidentally counted as part of interstate migration that year. Which of the following can be inferred from the passage above? © kindly share OA?? a) Majority of people coming to Litivia from abroad were over the age of 60. - Majority - not necessarily.. X b) In 1975 fewer Litivia residents over the age of 60 changed residents than in any of the ten years prior to 1975. - "dramatic reversal of a 10 year tendency toward migration of Litivia residents older than 60" in the passage, does no where point out the tendency of resident towards migration..so in option (b), it is being assumed that more residents over the age of 60 changed residents.. X c) People over the age of 60 who in 1975 came from abroad did not settle predominantly in small towns and rural areas. - and that's could be an answer to what introduced the error...otherwise the population study would have been correct had they permanently settled.. d) The 'Representative data sample' for 1975 was too small to allow any meaningful predictions. - already in premise 1 , this possibility has been ruled out.. e) The 10 year trend mentioned in passage was due chiefly to moves over relatively short distances, mostly within the same state. - contradictory to what has been stated in the passage
  10. Educator: Like many other difficult Educator: Like many other difficult pursuits, music requires intense study and practice from an early age in order for one to become proficient. But many school music programs encourage only children who demonstrate early aptitude to continue studying music, while children who do not appear especially musical are directed towards other activities. Having learned to think of themselves as musically inept, these children do not devote any time to music, and thus some of them deprive themselves of the opportunity to develop latent but potentially significant musical talent. The educator's statements, if true, would best support which of the following conclusions? Music education should not devote special attention to talented students. - it is never stated not inferred in the passage.. X Everyone has the potential to learn music. - not everyone necessarily, because of the use of the word "some of them" .. X The number of proficient adult musicians is less than it could be. - most appropriate and not wrong (although, better conclusion is possible).. Children are particularly sensitive to criticism from adults. - out of scope.. X All children should study music.
  11. - The focus of the passage is in the 'cost' factor as can be seen from the conclusion and so the correct assumption is expected to fortify the conclusion by proving the point that " photovoltaic power plants offer a less expensive approach to demand for electricity than do traditional power plants." ... Only (D) proves the point without any exception!!
  12. The only way that bookstores can profitably sell books at below-market prices is to get the books at a discount from publishers. Unless bookstores generate a high sales volume, however, they cannot get discounts from publishers. To generate such volume, bookstores must either cater to mass tastes or have exclusive access to a large specialized market, such as medical market, or both. 13. Which one of the following can be properly inferred from the passage? (A) If a bookstore receives discounts from publishers, it will profitably sell books at below-market prices. - 'can' in the passage implies that its probable but not certain! X (B) A bookstore that caters to mass tastes or has exclusive access to a large specialized market will have a high sales volume. - INFERENCE = "such volume (last sentence) => high sales volume (2nd last sentence)" in the passage and is not wrong and is the best answer (through better is possible) among the given options.. © A bookstore that profitably sells books at below-market prices gets discounts from publishers. - not necessarily as the discounts are offered based on volume of the order.. X (D) A bookstore that does not sell books at below-market prices does not get discounts from publishers - discounts are offered based on volume of the order and not because of the pricing scheme of the store.. X (E) A bookstore that not only caters to mass tastes but also has exclusive access to a large specialized market cannot profitably sell books at below-market prices. - contradicts the passage! X
