  1. I think most universities do have statistics about their incoming classes from previous years, don't know how often they update them though
  2. Yes but still only 2 women is really low taking into account that currently, 36% of students enrolled in Econ PhD are women. Also, the number of internationals is high because a little less than 50% of currently enrolled students are American. So i guess this is an odd result. I have no idea how large the previous classes were.
  3. Duke: 15 people total, 2 american and 13 international from 10 different countries, 2 women (including me) and 13 men

I actually enjoy math but my university didn't offer RA until last year when I was out. That said, I probably would've applied to a more well known masters, however the students that are coming out of my program now know that they can get into a top 20 US school so that makes me happy.
  5. Ummm i know someone from my country who went to ITAM and then applied this year and got into Princeton, Northwestern, Stanford, etc. I also have a friend at CEMFI but he has a different field of interest, more aligned with CEMFI's. In any case, if you haven't taken those math courses, i'd go to ITAM.
  6. @lucia, what is happening to our country is terrible and the feeling of frustration is unbearable. give your bf my most sincere congratulations.

  9. Hi! I decided to start this thread because i have been asking around for advice from professors and friends who are at the PhD and well they have been helpful but still i wanted more opinions to make my pro-con list. My field of interest is microeconomics. I have done some research mostly in applied microeconomics but it is because where i come from, i am not surrounded by many theorists so really working in micro theory wasn't an available option. Therefore, i don't know if my research interests will change in the long run and i'll be more interested in micro theory (Brown is great in this). Also, I don't know if spending about 40k for the first year is worth it. Placement is also something that worries me, Duke appears to be doing better than Brown in the last few years and I'm more interested in the academic path than the private sector one. I hope you can give me your input on this. I will be extremely thankful. :)
  10. LOL, i was going to write that just when i saw your answer. Ok, so words I love: Funded!!!!! tuition + insurance+ fellowship $$$
  11. what should i do waitlisted big admission pool
  12. Does anyone know about UCSD??? i just want an official mail!
  13. I got my rejection from Cornell this morning.
  14. grrrrrrrr why did someone found my post about Cornell "not helpful" that's just silly.... [EDIT: thanks guys]
  15. Just got my rejection from Cornell. Now i'm only waiting from UCSD!!!! I suppose it must be a rejection or unfunded though. Also, I hope Brown tells me if i have been admitted or not. I did not ask my position in the waitlist. They said it was short but don't know what short is for them

  17. Oh sorry!!! I'll edit it, it's for BU.
  18. I received a mail from the program administrator at BU and was told my transcripts were missing and i needed to send them ASAP. I replied asking if there was a possible funded offer in case i got in but he said they had already made all their funded offers and the ones that came out from now on were going to be unfunded.
