  1. Wow! Thanks rsaylors and mulrich, you have been very helpful. I now have a lot more information and factors involved, to think of. I will definitely look at taking the GMAT. I had not thought of this before, but there may be a strong case for this. I had studied for the GRE for only a couple of weeks and am sure of a better performance on the GMAT with some effort. My plan for the PhD is definitely only for a continued research career following it and I'd like to spend the rest of my career in academia. Working in the industry is certainly not what I would look to do at all. Europe or US...Anywhere really. I will write to students at the European schools I mentioned and share information I gather for everyone's benefit. I wrote to rsaylors about this, but I'll mention it here for the benefit of other prospective applicants and seniors who could contribute their two cents to the discussion: My UG GPA was 3.8 Feels awesome to be part of the community! I'll come up with more questions as I go along :-) Thanks again!
  2. Hi, I am planning to apply for PhD in Business (Organisational Behavior) courses for the next possible session. I wonder if someone could help me with some advice. Here are a few details about me: Age: 30 Masters: 2011: Dual Degree in Business Information Systems from a Top 10 French Business School and another French Engineering School (with a technical+business thesis component) GPA: 3.6/ 4.0 Top of class Research Intern with a top French Telecom company for 6 months (Technical side) Work Experience: 5 years (Mostly technical and managing international engineering teams) Bachelors: Telecommunication GRE: 1460 (V690 Q770) TOEFL: 114/ 120 References: One from a b-school prof who was a post-doc at UC Berkeley, another from my former Manager who was faculty at a leading US Engineering school Here is how you can help me out:) 1. I am planning to apply to HEC (HR and Organizational)and ESSEC (management) for the September 2011 session. DO you think I have a realistic shot at these schools? 2. My interests are in OB. Considering my background, is applying for OB realistic in terms of getting an admit? (I did have modules in OB and Marketing during my Masters course in which I did exceptionally well) I have personally been doing a lot of reading in this area, though nothing much to show on paper. 3. Would I be better advised to wait and apply for US universities for 2012? I am not averse to doing that. If yes, with the UT Dallas research rankings as a reference, which school is the highest I could aim to be at? I sincerely thank you for your time and kind advice. Peace and Good Luck to all!
