  1. i got waitlisted @ haas on the 15th (for MORs)
  2. i would email them to ask. maybe using a fake email address, if you're scared.
  3. Submitted for Haas MORs and Duke Marketing. GL everyone!
  4. most apps ive seen ask you if you've applied to their program before, and if so, how your app has changed since the last time. this part isnt in the sop either.
  5. Don't want to revive this thread too many times, but I have a few questions re: what to put/address in the personal statement that other people might have so I'll post them anyways. 1) I'm a little bit younger than the average senior at my school (skipped a grade in elementary school) - is this worth making a note of in the personal statement? I think some people have mentioned that younger applicants may be at a disadvantage because they may not be sure of what they're getting into. I'm 20 right now but will be 21 by Sept next year. 2) For various reasons, I never took a full course load during my undergraduate degree - should I take some time to explain why in the statement? I've taken as few as 3 courses in one semester before. 3) Is it necessary/better to propose a research project in the personal statement to demonstrate your interest/knowledge/research ability? Again, any input is appreciated. Thanks so much!
  6. I asked an OB prof about this, and he said it isn't the norm to email profs during the application season.
  7. Thanks for all your input, it's very helpful. One question though: How important is having strong quantitative background for these top programs? I've only taken one intro calc course, 2 psych stats courses, 1 third year statistics course in sampling, and one intro eco course. Does this hurt my chances significantly? I'm able to enrol in some math courses for my senior year, but I will not have grades for those courses by the application deadline.
  8. this is probably going to be a loaded question and (definitely another newbie question), but what are the key differences between ob phd programs (or marketing programs) in business schools and i/o phd programs in psych departments? i can't seem to find concrete information on this (and I'm interested in research, lol :S) rsaylors: when you say support is not as strong, do you mean from faculty? or funding-wise?
  9. Hi everyone, I'm new to the board and I'm looking for some input on my application profile. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Here are my stats: School: large public university in Canada Year: Entering fourth year, applying to graduate programs this fall Major: Psychology (Research stream) overall GPA: 3.87 / 4 psychology GPA: 3.98 GRE: 800Q, 650V (haven't received AW score yet) - did not write GMAT research experience: 3 years of research assistant experience in psychology labs and an OB lab at a large business school, multiple research projects, will complete thesis in 4th year no publications (but will possibly have one in submission by the time I apply, if that matters) Letters of recommendation: 3 good-to-great letters, 2 from professors, one from a postdoc My research interests are in OB, and i'm wondering how competitive my stats would be for PhD programs in OB at business schools. Are programs at top schools like Harvard, Stanford, and Tepper realistic for me? How competitive would I be for business schools in Canada (i.e. Ivey, Rotman)? I sincerely thank you for your time and advice.
