  1. Dear all, I've been looking into the Health Programs of Wharton (Health Care Mgmt and Econ) and Harvard (Health Policy - Economics). How do you think compare these programs? Which degree might be more valuable, especially in Europe? If I want to do Health Econ, what would be a respective pure Econ program in terms of ranking? Thanks a lot for your input!
  2. Everything is still pretty much true! They will drop some people cold-heartedly but even below average students can be sure to get support and LORs. Cemfi lost some important guys but is hiring up to 4 new people this season. It might be stronger in Metrics than Macro, but who cares? As long as you don't want to stay for a PhD (which is a good option). Another plus is that you are getting paid, I guess.
  3. Dear all, is anyone knowledgeable about those two programs? I like Health a lot and Wharton's program in that field looks attractive. However, interests might change. Is anyone aware of how far you can go into the Health direction from Wharton's applied econ program? And where are the chances higher to get admitted (with a pure Econ background)? Thanks a lot!

  8. That's one point. I've also heard that profs do not give a **** about their students, meaning that they think that the best ones will stand out any how. This leads to a lot of competition among the students. I place a lot of value on social interaction and I am not sure if the place Oxford would suit me well. But I'm happy to hear other opinions here, too!
  9. Why not go to Asia? I mean you don't wanna do research anyhow, so why work your *** of?
  10. Dear all, fortunately I have been admitted to most of schools I applied to. I am having a really hard time. Having been admitted to UCL, Oxford, Barcelona GSE, Tinbergen and CEMFI I think I have narrowed down the list to the two last ones. I have a tuition waiver for CEMFI and no funding at Tinbergen (but this is insignificant for me). I place high value on close relationships and small programs, so both suit well. My interest are Behavioral, Development, Public and my goal is a PhD for which I would not necessarily only want to go to the US. What I find best about CEMFI is the PhD placement (and that I could learn Spanish), with Tinbergen that you are directly in the PhD so you need less time and it suits my interest very well. I slighlty lean towards CEMFI but I am afraid that after two years I decide to stay in Europe - and will apply to Tinbergen again (ouch). Is someone here knowledgeable about both programs, especially regarding workload and quality of teaching? Thanks a lot!!
