  1. You can definitely use humor in your essay, but I would be careful how far you go. A good measure is to consider the kind of humor you would use with a teacher-- you can be funny, but not crass.
  2. ^^ Another point: try to be as specific as possible about what's expected from them on your syllabus, and then stick with it. Any veering away from a syllabus will drive students insane and they'll start questioning everything you do from then on. In terms of dates, it helps to give yourself some wiggle-room should certain material take longer than others.
  3. Aside from your GRE, the only parts that you need to work on are the application itself. As it goes for anyone, your GPA after graduating is what it is; unless you decide to take extra courses, there's nothing that can be done to change it. You at least graduated with above a 3.5 so you're reasonably competitive at Georgetown, if you can work on your application. Will you be able to get strong letters of recommendation? You also have many factors that can make for a great personal statement. You should definitely start thinking of essay topics that will make for strong personal statements-- highlighting your experience doing service work abroad is a great way to start.
  4. Most schools require some sort of official transcript to ensure that you've graduated or will graduate in good standing. Most if not all ABA-approved schools mandate that you have a bachelor's degree before beginning your first year: http://www.law.yale.edu/admissions/532.htm However, some schools offer a BA/JD program where you can earn both your bachelors and your JD in a shorter period of time, say in 5.5 or 6 years as opposed to the normal 7. It may be helpful for you to explore those.
  5. This is terribly incorrect-- good grammar is ABSOLUTELY necessary for law school, as well as for every day life. Not to mention, grammar skills are necessary to gain admission to law school to begin with. Please explain, lawstudent, which law school classes do NOT necessitate good grammar, I'm curious to know.
