  1. that's what i was talking about.. few days back and just 1 advice i gave was that dnt be nervous.. but it happens, so don't worry.. u know that you worked hard and always remember that your knowledge won't go waste, this will come in help the next time you give your gre.. i think if u have a very strong profile (Academic), then go for it.. otherwise wait for some time, gain some experience and then try again.. n chilll, this is not the end of the world, god has something better for u!

    score reports

i gave gre 2-3 days back and received scores in verbal and quant out of 340. Is this the final score because i haven't received any range (or rough estimate ) and got exact scores. So are these final ones?
  3. Hey, i took d exam yesterday and got almost the same score.. its not good though :\ srry to say.. your quant is like 610-620 and verbal 500.. total 1110-1120. But i have a question, why did you say it's an unofficial score? Because i think this is the final one as we didn't receive any range, we got clear cut marks... am i wrong to think that this is the official score?
  4. commendable effort anam, nice use of vocab :watermelon: but doesn't the issue mean that people are generally viewed by others in some sense(i.e their behavior is determined) whch could have been a result of their circumstances and not their true behavior? determined is confusing me!!!
  5. :( i screwed it up big time and scored a little less than what i scored in practice tests. I thought my score would improve, but here is the result. very very important thing which i would like to tell all is that do well in your 1st quant and 1st verbal section( do not get nervous) because on them depends your whole score and everything. If you score high in these sections it would be an advantage because if you get a low score for any reason the next two sections you get would be lower in level to them and even if you get many questions correct, you will still not be able to score good. All the best everyone! tc..
  6. thanks buddy for posting the link.. what he has done is found out probabilities of all the boxes which contain exactly 2,3 or 4 different flavours(excluding grape jelly) and then subtracted them from 1 to find the probability of box containing only grape jellies.. that is, in box with 2 flavors: 5C2/6C2 = 60/360 = 1/6 in box with 3 flavors: 5C3/ 6C3= 20/120= 1/6 in box with 4 flavors: 5C4/6C4 = 5/30 = 1/6 therefore, probability of choosing grape flavor = 1- (1/6+1/6+1/6) = 1/2 i wish such questions dnt come in exam .. pls god help!

    probability

A certain company sells jelly beans in th efollowing six flavors only.Banana, chocolate, grape, lemon, peach and strawberry. If the jelly beans are sorted randomly into boxes containign exactly 2 , 3 or 4 different flavors only, wht is the probability that any given box contains grape jelly beans only.
  8. Thanks for the chart caa, and thanks for the explanation everyone, but there is a little doubt .. what if instead of 75 percentile we had been asked for 85 percentile in column 1...?? Now what do we do and one basic question how come the value at 80 percentile is approximated to be 750...?? sorry, for such stupid questions, but i am a little weak on this topic..

    Multiple

thanku sir, for letting us remember this (unconscious) fact that n^2 will give have even no. of primes as multiples.. but i have a doubt, you just mentioned that the minimum possible number that will divide n^2 is 36 and it can also be a multiple of 36, but you still left out 72 as an option, 72 is a multiple of 36 and i think it should be the answer as well.. what say?
  10. nocturnal

    Multiple

Answer should be A only... did it by forming factors... what's the answer buddy? u dnt reply back with answers.. :( waiting for confirmation of other post as well..
  11. only by ignoring decades of management and inefficiency could investors conclude that a fresh inclusion of cash would provide anything other than a fleeting solution to the company's financial woes. can anyone please make me understand the meaning of this sentence? kind of confused.. fleeting was the correct option for sentence completion.. waiting for your replies,...
  12. shridhar how did you reach the conclusion as B ?? Any hint would help us all solve the problem..
  13. nocturnal

    eBank

i think B is the answer... Bcoz out of 6000 accounts .05% transactions did not complete, which is 30 transactions, and therefore total 5970 transactions attempts of debit n deposit took place. Of them, 70% exchanges have maximum limit of deposit and debit within $0.02 and 30% have limit within $0.05 So, 70% of 5970=4179 and 30% of 5970 = 1791 and then i multiplied them by 0.02 and 0.05 respectively to find upper limit that account verification system might have caused that week, and then added the two quantities.. what's the correct answer??
  14. Thankuuu so much caa.. got it now :)

    Rectangle

hey, how did u get the other two options, just by hit and trial method or forming some equations? coz i am unable to proceed beyond L+B=12 (24/2) and area= L*B lol.. :p

    Perimeter

since one side is 12 and other is 18, the third side could be anything between 6 and 30.. So, the perimeter (P) lies between 36

  18. hey caa, can u pls explain further by explaining the whole process...didn get it.. what to put in (all three) and how to choose all these options???? really confused..
  19. NO. that is an extreme answer.. u can't say by surety that they will grow obese because some of them do lose weight, it's stated... only what u can understand is that the risk is high..
  20. From what i checked last night, its written in ETS gre book that for normal distribution curve, 2/3rd of the data is covered in 1 s.d and the rest of the data(approx) in 2nd standard deviation... what is left in 3rd S.d is less than 5%.. so may be what they have done is: 1st S.D. 47+14=61 2nd S.D 61+14=75 and since we wanted to reach only 75( i know this is the standard deviation process n differs slightly from normal standard distribution ).. but this is all i could find and what made sense to me..
  21. it says that MOST teenagers who were severely obese didn't turn into obese adults. HOWEVER (but), a LARGE proportion of obese teens remained so in their adulthood. so it clearly shows that though many teens might have managed to reduce themselves over the time but still a large proportion of them remained obese in adulthood. => that risk of severe adult obesity increases with childhood severe obesity.. Answer is E. hope it helped...
  22. i got the same answer.. but on the second thought it says four consecutive days.. the one we calculated is for like say any four days.. lets say.. M W F SUNDAY now if we see only 2 of them are consecutive ... is this the correct answer??
