  1. I have been wailisted so actually a waitlist exists, anyway I may end up just as slippers and Try again next year..
  2. Guys, I know the department of economics met today for the admissions. Has anybody receive some news? Bye
  3. It is but the competition seems to be crazy this year in Italy (for simple reasons)
  4. Guys thanks for the suggestions. Actually I comes from the MS Bocconi and I may end up with no acceptances (I did just two in Italy..). So I applied for the Master in Economics of BGSE hoping that through it I will have the chance to be admitted in a good PhD in UK in 2013-2014 with funding. What do you think about that? Thanks
  5. Hi guys, does anybody know if some good graduate school in Europe is still accepting applications? (And also any info about their funding). Any help would be truly appreciated since I fear I may end up in a bad situation Thank you Bye
  6. Don't worry, actually I know him so as soon as I get the results of phd selections I can email him and ask him if that's true..
  7. Any news about Giovanni Peri coming back to Bocconi?
  8. If all these rumors are true I share your view. I am a macro guy as well and the macro staff is already good!
  9. Thanks for the helpful thread. I am italian and applied to the phd bocconi. I have two questions: 1) from your experience do you think that the rankings are made following exactly the 40, 30, 20, ... allocation? It seems weird that LORs matter so little.. 2) how would you evaluate the comparison Eui vs Bocconi (regarding the phd)? Thank you very much!
  10. Well actually the timing of interview goes with nationality. Anyway, I applied for Economics and I got invited one hour ago. By the way Carmn8, if you are from DES Bocconi and your name is Carmine then we know each other. I hope you get the invitation as well. Good luck!
  11. I am Italian as well and I didn't get any news. I think we won't receive anything if not invited, we can just check if other italians get invitated...Good luck!
  12. Thanks a lot for your help! All the best
  13. Bocconi: GRE score has a 30% weight in your global evaluation (40% academic results, 20% references and Sop, 10% additional stuff) EUI: GRE is not officially required but only suggested
  14. I'd be with some kind of grant or fellowship, but it seems tough. Anyway I would be satisfied also with EUI and Bocconi, but with my low GRE score I wanted some clue about what I should expect...
  15. Hi everybody, does anyone have information about how hard is the selection for Phd Economics program. I was thinking about EUI, BSGE and Bocconi. Here's my profile, what do you think? Type of Undergrad: BA Economics in minor italian university Undergrad GPA: 3.81/4 (110/110) Type of Grad: Bocconi - Msc Economics and Social Science Grad GPA: 3.7/4 (110/110) GRE: 158 Q, 157 V, AW 3.5 Math Courses: Statistics, Math, Econometrics Econ Courses: Advanced Macro very tough Other Courses: - Letters of Recommendation: one top Bocconi and MIT, two good Research Experience: 3 month RA + Msc thesis Teaching Experience: N/A Research Interests: Macroeconomics Thanks in advance Bye
  16. Sorry I was probably not exhaustive in explaining my academic career...Here in Italy we do 3 years of undergraduate + 2 years of MSc, so I don't want to do another year of Msc. Thank you for the info anyway. The first two years of Bocconi and EUI Phd programs are of coursework, as in the US for what I got. GRE is required by Bocconi (it's worth 30% of your profile evaluation) and not required but strongly suggested by EUI. Hope the other parts of my profile can compensate for the low GRE score!
  17. Thank you for the info. I don't know if you have any knowledge of european Phd programs, but what about my chances in Bocconi, EUI? From UPS they told me that, since I have done 5 years of university studies so far, I should apply first to another year of Msc (and I don't want to..) Let me know Thank you
  18. The link was very cool. Anyway I can't... I did GRE 2 days ago, with a bit rush because just after the discussion of my thesis. I hope that continental european universities do not require so high scores...thank you again
  19. About the math I have done, what I see in other profiles doesn't tell me much. I'd say that the most advanced math I've done is that required to work with DSGE models. I haven't done real analysis... I did a lot is econometrics, many many courses. My worry may be that the quantitive GRE score is a bit low, isn't it? Thank you
