  1. Really? Could you please inform me the website of this information? Thanks!
  2. May I ask how about the delay of recommendation letter? what if the letters arrive, say, 20 days late but before the Christmas?
  3. [h=2][/h] Hi, guys. I know that Msc Econ program at LSE is accompanied by a conditional offer(distinction) of PhD at LSE Econ department. As Msc F&E got relative lower distinction rate as compared with Econ program, I was wondering if the distinction in F&E would send you to their PhD finance program? Besides, how about the academic reputation of F&E, in terms of getting admitted by US Top 20 finance departments? Thanks in advance!

  7. Hi guys, I have been facing a problem of choosing from Lse Finance and Econ program(Msc) or lse eme (Msc) as a step stone for applying Finance Phd in 2014 fall. The pros and cons in my point of view: EME: 1. Distinction could guarantee a place for Lse econ Phd:encouragement:. 2. Strong reputation, widely recognized in US, but does it carry the same value for admission committee in finance? F&E: 1. Not bad reputation in finance area. More exposure to stochastic pricing and financial economics( I have already studied stochastic analysis). 2. Students in this program are required to submit a thesis paper, which might be helpful... 3. No back up--Only Distinction does not necessarily mean obtaining Phd offer in Lse Finance department. My undergrad major is math and I have finished an MSC of mathematical finance in UK ( stochastic calculus, functional analysis, Measure theory etc.). So let's optimistically assume that I would survive those courses in LSE:orange: Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The pros and cons in my point of view: EME: 1. F&E: 1. Not bad reputation in finance area. More exposure to stochastic pricing and financial economics. 2. 9. Hi guys, is there any highly recommended textbook for PhD level "Asset pricing"? Like "MWG" for microeconomics? Thanks in advance.
  10. Yeah, it is. I was wondering if those materials covered in Greene's appendix is enough for phd level econometric... Or it's better to buy a standard advanced algebra textbook?
  11. How do you guys find the textbook "Econometric analysis" by Greene? Is there any suggested textbook for advanced algebra? Really need to get one now... Thanks in advance.:encouragement:
  12. Would it be possible to make up one big flaw in undergrade real analysis (B):blue: by two excellent results in Master-level Measure Theory and Functional Analysis (both A):victorious:? Do the adcom--especially most of econ faculties know the correlations of these math-courses? One of my worry is that they still focus on the "real analysis"...I think I really did a lot courseworks in my math master to pay the "real analysi" debt :livid:. Thanks in advance.:)
  13. It seems weird to me that many associate professors with tenure offered sometimes go to a lower ranked school and become a full professor there. Of course those people may have their own considerations, but I was wondering if "tenure offered" can not guarantee a full professor position in this school.:proud:
