Hi gradeconomist, I gave my GRE 15 days back and had a score of ( q-154, v-154), I missed 5-6 questions in quant due to lack of time:(. Please suggest some good practice tests besides ETS and also what books should i work with so that I can get a score in 160s in both sections, I will be giving GRE again. Thanks in advance.

I am going through NOVA's math although I did it before and will take practice tests too but I really don't know from where do get more practice tests as I did many before although not timed :(. from where you will do your practice tets?

Please share your comments for making improvements. I really need some advice. Prompt College students should base their choice of a field of study on the availability of jobs in that field. Response: Although choosing the field of study based on the availability of jobs may sure will boost the chances of getting a job but it may not be good for an individual in the long term as studies have shown that people are motivated to work if they have some interest or liking for doing that work. Choosing a field of study base on the job market may assure the individual a good job immediately after graduation but if the person is not really interested in that field then he/she won’t be able to concentrate in studies and will only try to gain superficial knowledge of that field. On the other hand if an individual has some interest then they try to learn more about that field by looking for books , journals etc . Thus, in that way they try to become experts or specialists in that field. For example: Einstein developed the theory of relativity because he was interested in that field , on the other hand if he would have been forced to study biology then may be he would not have done something so ground breaking. Individuals choose the field of study in which there are high job prospects because they want to gain financial strength by earning more but some times they do regret for their decisions as they are not at all interested in that field which in turn affects their performance . If they do not perform well they do not climb up the organizational ladder that fast which frustrates them more, ultimately losing their interest in that job. If individuals do not choose the field of study according to their interest then it is likely that they do not perform good in college itself which ultimately affect their grades thereby creating a bad impression on resumes, which affects their job prospects. On the other hand choosing a field of study on the basis of job availability is not a bad decision but it affects the individual in the long term as he/ she shows lack of interest and motivation which affects their performance on the job and is also a cause of frustration for them.

Mass media has drastically changed the way people utilize information accessible to them from diverse sources. Although some argue that it has reduced the attention span as people keep searching one site after other for a large amount of information at the same time. However a close examination of the issue reveals that mass media is a very useful medium of getting huge information at ease. First and foremost mass media delivers information through a wide range of mediums and people can choose the medium according to their ease and need whether it be a TV, Ipad, radio, computer etc. This allows them to have access to the required information at home , in office or while traveling . For example people now can get instant news of cricket matches either in the form of live online commentary or through any of the major sites like yahoo which is possible only because of mass media and internet. Beyond the advantage that it provides in terms of ease it helps in changing the perception of people which in turn helps in shaping their behavior towards people or things. For eg: By seeing an advertisement on TV people get to know about different brands for the same kind of product and can help in making a wise decision while buying. Advertising is kind of business and TV or online advertisements in which people can both hear and see about a product are a strong influencers in their buying behavior thus promoting the advertisement industry . Besides the benefits in terms of ease and reach mass media has reduced the attention spans of an individual as people while searching for a more accurate and up to date information keep looking for it by going from one site to other by just skimming over the information provided on one site. In this process sometimes they skip some useful information which is hard to find on other site. While it may now be clear that the benefits of mass media outweigh its drawbacks so it is apparent the in long term investment in mass media will be rewarded. If more technologically advanced alternatives are explored more seriously than we will be able to come up with less expensive mass mediums.
