  1. Hello, Does anyone know anything about mba8.com? A friend is considering enrolling in their school (based in China) but cannot find any information on them beyond what they say themselves. If anyone has any links to reviews, knows someone who has taken a course there (good or bad), or has some info to share we'd greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Taf
  2. 1. The suspect is facing charges that he illegally published telephone credit card numbers, intending that they be used by others to avoid telephone billings. (A) intending that they be used by others to avoid telephone billings. (B) with the intent of others using them to avoid telephone billings © intending that telephone billings could be avoided by others using them (D) with the intent of their use by others to avoid telephone billings (E) with the intent that telephone billings would be avoided by others through their use
  3. There is a great deal of geographical variation in the frequency of many surgical procedures - up to tenfold variation per hundred thousand between different areas in the numbers of hysterectomies, prostatectomies, and tonsillectomies. To support a conclusion that much of the variation is due to unnecessary surgical procedures, it would be most important to establish which of the following? (A) A local board of review at each hospital examines the records of every operation to determine whether the surgical procedure was necessary. (B) The variation is unrelated to factors (other than the surgical procedures themselves) that influence the incidence of diseases for which surgery might be considered. © There are several categories of surgical procedure (other than hysterectomies, prostatectomies, and tonsillectomies) that are often performed unnecessarily. (D) For certain surgical procedures, it is difficult to determine after the operation whether the procedures were necessary or whether alternative treatment would have succeeded. (E) With respect to how often they are performed unnecessarily, hysterectomies, prostatectomies, and tonsillectomies are representative of surgical procedures in general.
  4. Congratulations! I am not a native speaker either and my weakness lies in reading compehension as well. Can you tell me where you found those 100 articles? Are they on line? Can you just send me a cope of them? You do inspire us!
  5. Hey GmatClif You reply actually inspired me. Anyway, I am happy that we all agree with the answer now. In C, I think the word "already" really confused me. In my opinion, it'll be a lot easier to eliminate C if "already' is gone.
  6. So what's wrong with B? Is it simply because "Authors of the seventeenth century" is not as good as" Seventeenth century authors"?
  7. I disagree though. C: The group of inmates who chose to take college-level courses were not already less likely than other inmates to commit crimes after being released. What you said should be worded like this : inmeates who took courses were already less likely to commit crimes. Then you can say that these inmates who took college-level courses were predisposed or had already made up their mind not to commit crimes after they are released. But since answer c is " inmates were NOT already less likely to commit crimes", meaning "these inmates who took college-level courses are as likely to commit crimes after being released as those who didn't take such courses. So it means that no matter inmates take courses or not, they will commit crimes after they are released anyway. In short, answer C weakens the argument, which claimed that the courses were helpful b/c inmates who took them commited far fewer crimes overall than those who didn't. As for answer A : Not being able to take college-level courses while in prison is unlikely to deter anyone from a crime that he or she might otherwise have committed. I hate this kind of convoluted sentence. But, anyway. First take a look at "is unlikely to deter anyone from a crime", meaning "won't deter crime", maning "will commit crime" Second, put the whole thing together " NOT able to take courses..will commit crimes". Doesn't this mean if inmates are able to take courses, then they won't commit crimes? This answer strengthens the argument. So it is the answer. please tell me what you think, fellows. Correct me if I am wrong. I really want to know what's going on with this Q.
  8. It's parallism question. either to v, or to v none of their pregnancies was... the subject of this sentence is " none" , not pregnancies. "everyone, anyone, any, none" of ~+singular verb
  9. Thanks for the replies. But what is the answer exactly? Got a little confused. The responses are so diversified.
  10. Do you mean C: the market versus aluminum and other metals (weird b/c it should be the market versus the market) D: commodities versus commodities of aluminum and other metals.
  11. I pick D b/c Donald only said housing prices shouldn't increase in the next six months unless the interest rate drops. And then Mark replied that he disagreed b/c one year ago, when interest rates last fell significantly, housing prices did not increase at all. But Donald never said that the interest rate is the "only" factor that would affect the price of the housing. So Mark must have interpreted it as answer D:interest rates are the only significant economic factor affecting housing prices. What is the answer? I want to know if I am wrong.
  12. In an attempt to reduce the crime rate, the governor is getting tough on criminals and making prison conditions harsher. Part of this effort has been to deny inmates the access they formerly had to college-level courses. However, this action is clearly counter to the governor’s ultimate goal, since after being released form prison, inmates who had taken such courses committed far fewer crimes overall than other inmates. Which of the following is an assumption on which the argument depends? A. Not being able to take college-level courses while in prison is unlikely to deter anyone from a crime that he or she might otherwise have committed. B. Former inmates are no more likely to commit crimes than are members of the general population. C. The group of inmates who chose to take college-level courses were not already less likely than other inmates to commit crimes after being released. D. Taking high school level courses in prison has less effect on an inmate’s subsequent behavior than taking college-level courses does. E. The governor’s ultimate goal actually is to gain popularity by convincing people that something effective is being done about crime. Don't understand why answer c put "already" in it. I fins it easier to understad without "already".
  13. The market for recycled commodities like aluminum and other metals remain strong despite economic changes in the recycling industry. C. commodities such as aluminum and other metals remains E. commodities, like the commodities of aluminum and other metals, remains
  14. Thank you so much. I understand the point now.
