  1. Also just got a waitlist offer from Minnesota, which I am accepting! Amazing end to an insane process, excited to meet the rest of the class in August.
  2. Congratulations, Hopeace! Do you think you will be attending?
  3. During all the waitlist frenzy, has anyone heard from Minnesota yet? For having such a hearty waitlist and historically matriculating a fair portion of each class from that waitlist, I'm shocked not to seen any movement from them.
  4. I've actually never had to deal with this, but if it were me I would discuss the topics and textbooks and draw parallels between the curriculum. If that didn't work, as a last ditch I would offer to take the University's own pre-req's final exam as proof of comprehension.
  5. if i were you i would email the departments i am waitlisted at and tell them the situation. a lot of times it seems they can make decisions faster if need be.
  6. To all the Minnesota waitlisters, I just came across this thread: http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/110438-i-got-wait-listed-minnesota-anyone-else.html Did anyone here get a longer email with the "likely admission at a later date"? I haven't seen anyone detail the contents of their letter so hard to know if they sent two this year. Mine was the short and sweet "You're on the waitlist, we'll let you know." Also, is anyone from the waitlist attending their visit day next week?
  7. Is there a way of finding out what rank you are on the waitlist, or will they not likely share that info?
  8. I am also waiting, as are others I believe. I emailed the department about a week ago and got the same form response as someone else reported on GC. "So far we have rejected a very large number of applicants and accepted a much smaller number. A large number of applicants, including you, are in the middle ground, we will have more news next week, letting some applicants know that they are on the waiting list and letting others know that we have had to reject their applications even though their applicants were good. Unfortunately, for most of the students on the waiting list, we will not be able to make decisions until April." So, patience is a virtue with Minnesota.
  9. Institution: Brown Program: PhD Economics Decision: Waitlisted (PhD and MA) Funding: N/A Notification date: 3/14/2014 Notified through: Email Posted on GC? No Comments: Included a list of questions to complete to remain on WL
  10. I've got mixed feelings on how optimistic to be. For those that have released both admissions and rejections, I feel there is still hope (Columbia, Brown, Minnesota). For those that have released only admissions and waitlists, obviously a rejection is more expected (NYU, Maryland, Wisconsin).
  11. I'm still waiting. Seems to be a theme for me (see: Columbia, Brown, NYU, Maryland, Wisconsin)
  12. Congrats, Love! Great offer and funding package.
  13. Dimitry, any new movements on your decision status?
  14. I think how you are feeling is typically of this point in the cycle. I am certainly in the same boat as you and shelley, in that many said to focus only on T30, but my results so far have been shockingly unfavorable.
  15. Still "Awaiting Program Decision" - nice to know that there's movement occurring. Good luck!
  16. Can anyone here confirm a notification from UCLA?
  17. day's half done, here's hoping someone on the boards gets some good news today to cheer us up after a morning of rejections.
  18. Institution: MIT Program: PhD Economics Decision: Rejected Funding: Not Applicable Notification date: 02/25/14 Notified through: Email Posted on GC: No Comments: Expected
  19. Hopefully a little more action will pick up this afternoon - maybe Columbia? A few BC admits trickling in on GC though, good luck to everyone who applied!
