If you look at rankings, University of Maryland is ranked #11, which is probably the highest compared to the rest of the programs on your list. However, it is really about the research fit. If you are interested in the work at a lower ranked university this is probably going to be a better choice. However, I've heard that some public schools offer lower stipend, which might be somewhat disappointing especially if you love the program. I'm not familiar with Chicago, but I heard that Duke is more psych oriented. So again it depends on your research interests.

CONGRATS XanthusARES!!!!!! This is so exciting!!!!! I was wondering how did you withdrew all your other applications? Did you just email the program or called them? If you emailed them, what did you say exactly? I think it is so awkward and I'm not sure how you turn down a great program after expressing your enthusiasm during the interviews...

I'm the same way... every interview I get, it makes me more and more nervous! Checking my email is just the beginning, how about refreshing grad cafe and this forum every 10 seconds? And what about re-playing the interview in your head until you go crazy because you realize how many things you forgot or how many things you were not clear about... Applied: 13 Reject: 2 (one of them was after an interview :( ) Admit: 0 Interview: 4 The wait is killing me, even though I understand it is just mid-February.

Yeah, it makes sense! At this point I'm just waiting for my first offer. So far only interviews... Once you have an offer, your approach sounds the best for everyone.

Thanks for sharing, I was actually wondering what is the best approach in this type of situation. Is it better to have the interview and wait for the decision before politely declining or is it better to send an email up front (if you are planning to go to another program)? I would feel awkward saying "no" to an interview, and would rather wait for the decision or something. They might not want me after all which will make it easier on me. Thoughts? Also do you tell them that you got another offer and would like to decline or do you just withdraw your application without telling them where you are going?

I only applied to Haas from this list, but nothing so far!

Sad, but I start my day with GC and the refreshing the forum. Just to make sue I'm not missing anything. hahahah I also refresh my email probably million times a day, just to get frustrated from all the spam I get. When I just applied everyone told me not to wait for anything before mid-February, but since I got my first interview at the beginning of January I can't stop obsessing about decisions/interview. Anyone heard anything from University of North Carolina for OB/Management? How about University of Maryland? Looking at GC postings, I wish I was applying for Chemistry-- these guys get their answers so fast!!!! I'm jealous! :)
