Hi,
I'm currently doing a MSc Development Economics course joinly run by economics department and the devleopment studies institution in UK. I'll have done 8 modules at the end of the course, 5 of which are from the economics department and the other 3 from development studies. My grades have been good, about 77% in the first term. In my undergrad, I did double major in English Linguistics and Economics and got A's from all the econoimcs courses. I have no decent work and research experience.
I just would like to know if there is any chance to be accpeted for Mhil(MRes)/PhD in economics(2016 entrance) and get adivce for this. I'm looking at courses in Europe, pariculary Bonn, Mannnheim, LSE, UCL, so on. My first concern is about my master degree, which is only economics-related, although more than half of the course is taught by the economics department. The second concern is my weak math background. I'm quite confident in math but I didn't take any decent math courses, which were not avaliabe both in my undergrad and master courses. I only self learned linear algebra. If I get a good score in GRE, will that be enough evidence for my math ability? If I'm accepted conditioning on successfully doing a MSc economics course for these reasons, I'm more than happy to do so.
I would appreciate any comments and advice.
