  1. Don't you think UConn, UCR and SFU are better departments than LSU, WVU and Oklahoma ? this might give UCD a slight advantage
  2. Thanks, I checked on UW academic placement and almost all of them are AP positions... the choice isn't easy at all
  3. Hey Guys, I have PhD offers from both schools that I like and very close in level. They are (placement links attached): 1) UC Davis: (TAship for first year and able to be renewed on annual basis depending on internal ranking of students that depends on gpa, prelims and teaching evaluation) Placement 2000-present — Economics at UCDavis 2) UW Seattle: (guaranteed funding all years through TAship or RAship) ... Job Placement | Department of Economics My interests are in Macro-Finance , International Economics and Growth. My Questions are: Which department do you think offer a better graduate program in my area of interests and in terms of reputation and placement? Any idea about attrition rates at UC Davis as I heard its high? I feel Seattle is a much better place to live at specially with the California drought and the fact that Davis is a college town. Also the guaranteed funding at UW makes that offer safer. On the other hand I guess UC Davis has slightly stronger academic placement and maybe a slightly better research fit. What is your take on that?
  4. Hey thanks man ... I will be contacting you on inbox if you don't mind
  5. The fellowship is for nos residential tuition over 3 first years. Stipend comes through the TAship which is secured for the first year and that i can apply to renew it in the following year. The offer seems quite risky to me. I have another full funded offer from UW-Seattle, what do you think is a better choice in this case? I kind of prefer UC Davis but scared, emailed them to ask for more details.
  6. Hey guys, I received unofficial offer from UC Davis today ... It offers : 1) 1st year TAship ... able to be renewed for further years and I need to apply. 2) 3 years tuition fellowship. I really like the department but worried that TAship and Fellowship might not be renewed after 1st and 3rd years respectively. Any UC Davis graduate students around to give me more insight on this? Are TAships and fellowships easily extendable or I might need to support myself later. P.S: I am an international student. Thanks
