Hey Guys,
I have PhD offers from both schools that I like and very close in level. They are (placement links attached):
1) UC Davis: (TAship for first year and able to be renewed on annual basis depending on internal ranking of students that depends on gpa, prelims and teaching evaluation)
Placement 2000-present — Economics at UCDavis
2) UW Seattle: (guaranteed funding all years through TAship or RAship) ...
Job Placement | Department of Economics
My interests are in Macro-Finance , International Economics and Growth.
My Questions are: Which department do you think offer a better graduate program in my area of interests and in terms of reputation and placement? Any idea about attrition rates at UC Davis as I heard its high?
I feel Seattle is a much better place to live at specially with the California drought and the fact that Davis is a college town. Also the guaranteed funding at UW makes that offer safer. On the other hand I guess UC Davis has slightly stronger academic placement and maybe a slightly better research fit. What is your take on that?
