  1. Hi You will start in January, why are u bothering abt housing so early? Anyway, there are several options that you can opt for. Apply to UAH and I-house if you want to live on-campus. If you like to live off-campus and cook urself, there are various sites for hunting apartment shares and roommates. You will know all these from the housing documuents CU send you. All in good time! In my case, I have applied to UAH and still awating their results. I have a relative close to CU. I can stay there too. I am not yet decided on this issue. -Meraj
  2. Congratulations and welcome to CU!!![clap]

  4. Columbia University (NY) for Computer Science MS specializing in Network Systems. I can be reached at: merajul_i|at|yahoo.com
  5. Hi I asked someone who studied in CU about your comments. He told me " :) ... come and you will see." However, NYU is a good school too. So best of luck. -Meraj
  6. Could not get u? Why do u say this?
  7. Please see the date of the post and also what kobe_8 asked.-Meraj
  8. May not be. May be I am going there too if I get VISA without any problem.
  9. You have NCSU under ur belt! Why bother for UIC?
  10. Columbia's MS is 1 year course according to their I-20. But most people finishes it in 3 semesters i.e. 16 months including 3 months summer. A 30 credit MS in Columbia will be like hell if someone tries to do it in 1 year.
  11. I think except the cost factor, all other factors are negligible. In the end, people wont ask whether u graduated from a university with big campus or small campus. And as far I remember from your some previous posts, when you applied to CU u mentioned u dont need any aid. If that is correct, cost factor is also negligibe in your case. -Meraj
  12. @Squidanana Hi sent my application package in the first week of january. -Meraj
  13. @Diablo Cause not many poeple are responding here. If you know a list of people from testmagic who have finalized to go to CU (what abt u ?) , please post here. @mvirtosu Thanks for your view. Bye the way, where are u heading this fall and which major? -Meraj
  14. Ya. But it seems that CU is not that prospective in terms of average salary after MS ( according to ur post :hmm: ) and not many people who got into CU have finally decided to go there. Hmmmm, I have to reconsider my decision  -Meraj
  15. So CU is the most expensive and the least prospective ? What abt UMN-TC and UFL? -Meraj
  16. Hi How many people from testmagic have decided to go to Columbia University (for Computer Science or other dept.) ? Please respond here ( unless no one is going there :hmm: ). -Meraj
  17. What is the average salary of CS-MS graduates from Columbia University? -Meraj
  18. Hi I received an admit in MS program of UMN-TC about one week back without any aid. -Meraj
  19. Hi Thanks for all the encouraging comments. @THEBESTUCANGET Well, the casual answer is no one wants to remember his failure dates. Logical answer is, some uni. did not rejected me formally. Like UIUC said they declared all admit decisions within April 15 and so rest are dinged. I don't know any fixed date of rejection for some universities. If everything is in favor (particularly the VISA processing) , I am going to Columbia University this fall, though I will have to take loan. @bigredx24x :hmm: My avatar looks like very innocent. @gstergia Thanks @Big Dog 04, awhig You already know it! My areas of interests are networks and OS and Columbia is very good in these areas. However, any comparative view between Columbia and UMN-TC will be highly appreciated. -Meraj

  21. Hi Go to http://www.time.gov/ , select the time zone, you will get the local US time. -Meraj
  22. Hi How reliable is International Student Loan Program loan? I mean is there any hidden trap. The ISLP loan rate says it is the Wall Street Journal Prime Lending Rate. And this rate is now 5.75%. It was 4.0% a year ago and 5.0% a month ago. So how risky is it to take this loan? Did anyone on testmagic ever take this loan? Please respond. -Meraj
  23. Mine also shows that. If there is any other page to check status please let me know. -Meraj
  24. Waiting for some more views ...
