Please some one help me...

Hi All, I have got admit from UMR and SUNY - Binghamton for MS in EE Sping-2006. My research interests are Microelectronics, Wirelesscommunication, Embedded systems. I am not getting where to go.. each of these have their own advantage and disadvantage.. UMR -- Good ranking in EE (by USNEWS-2006)., but no much research in my field of interest. No tools like Cadence and all.. infact not many courses in my interests. Job and internship and aid information is not yet known SUNY-Binghamton -- some research in VLSI, Computer architecture, Wirelesscommunication, has tools like Cadence, Synipsys.... near to NY so good jobs and internships.. no info about aid... but not listed in top tier university in EE USNEWS-2006. Gurus, Please help me in deciding.. Any info about Aid, Jobs and inernships in UMR, pease post it. How is the reputation of SUNY-binghamton.. this is because.. I do not think USNEWS is always correct.. it may be accurate.. but only for top 20 rankings. Please please help me. Thanks

I have done that, that is why I am telling UMR has no research in VLSI or MEMS or even Wireless comm. I wanted some help if you know any reseach things these unvs...

Thanks James Bond :), But is not that what research going on there is equally important? I have heard there is no much research going on in VLSI or MEMS or Wireless comm... or even DSP.. UMR is well known for Electromagnetics and power I wish to pursue my PhD in one of these fields.. and defnly at higher ranked univ with full aid... will it be wise to choose UMR.

Ya I know that, but I can not afford to keep waiting for that. and also Michigan state univ has acceptance rate of 8%, and I don't think with my score I can get into. So I have to finalize.

Hi All, I am from EC background, with GRE score of 1150 (V:370, Q:780.). My acad profile is 73%, with 2papers published. I have 1year corporate experiance in Embedded Systems. I want to pursue MS in EE(specially in VLSI, Image prosessing, MEMS, Embedded Systems). Which University should I apply? I am looking for sort of aid also, may not be full, its ok even if I dont get for the first sem, but from 2nd sem I need some aid. I am planning for Spring-2006. Please help me. Thanks in advance

Thanks, but think universities do not consider which domain I am applying, they need a good score for admssion and financial aid. Any good universities you can suggest.

Hi every one, Today I gave my GRE and my score is very bad. as you can see in subject line. I am from EC background. I have a 1 year experiance of working in corporate in Embedded systems domain. Please help.. is there any hope of getting admission into any average university? Please please help

Hey pentiummani, Even I have come across this problem. But the reason for this is 40% of the words in Gurus gre wordlist .21B are very easy. Inaddition, the test gives options which are completly different from the meaning of the key word, so it is extreamly easy to make odd man out and get the answer. So the better option is to give test as you want, and while reviewing you set the words which you can't give meaning as difficult and revise them many times. Do not depend on the test result of the Guru's software. I take test just to screen the words, but not to measure can I answer them. Infact I take the test before I review the wordlist. Then I eliminate easy words and start revising. Do revision untill youare capable of giving the meaning or flavour of it without any choices given. Best of luck.

Hi People, I got to know that, if GRE is taken for the second time, Universities average the score of both the tests.. Is it true? If that is the case then there is no use in taking gre second time and scoring very high.. as range of score between 1100 to 1300 is of same level. Even one takes gre second time and score 1400+ with previous score to be 1100+ his/her score will not cross 1300.. Please give comments..

Hi ncy111, When you say 50 words, do you mean words from wordlist of either Barrons, Kaplans, Prinston.. sth like that? Because I am using Gurus GRE wordlist in which a wordlist of 50 has about 25 too easy words(I mean with my Vocabulary).. remaining 25 are of barrons standard. I can manage to do these 25 per day. In course of time my ability to memorize these words has increased a lot and I recently increased the number from 15 to 25 perday. I think I can increase it still provided I revise the words very frequently, But I fear that I will for get the words very soon and it woruld be waste and if i pressurize more i start getting confused.. What should I do. My target is 600V.. now I cant say how much I am getting but my score interms of No of correct answer is 23 or 24 out of 38 questions from Big Book. Can you tell what may be my rough score. And how should I proceed.? Thanks in advance

Hi People, Thanks for the help. I have started with Gurus GRE wordlist. 21B. I have done about 1100 words, out of which about 600 are very simple once which are not at all GRE level, but others are from Barrons. I am taking Real19 test posted on this forum, these are only Vocab tests.. I am getting on an average of 23 to 25 out of 38. My Quant score scaled is 790. Can any one help me.. what is the scaled score for these real19 tests.. if I get 24/38.. I took the ets paperbased test given in pdf. I got less score in that.. But other tests I am getting pretty well.. Any perticular reason? I practive daily 25-30 words.. My pan is to give GRE last week of April-2005 or first week of May -2005 and score goal is Q800, V600. Any other suggestions please post. It will help me in fine tuning my preperation.
