  1. NCSU has the Research Triangle Park(RTP) nearby, which has big offices of IBM, Cisco, Redhat etc. I haven't been there but I've heard that due to RTP, the placement scenario is good. I have also heard good things about ASU, which is at Phoenix, a very big metropolitan area. & usually bigger city means better placements. Don't have any idea about the others. Hope this helps a bit.
  2. Short answer would be: probably NOT very much. A detailed answer would need a lot more info on your profile, the school/degree you are apping to, etc.
  3. UVa CS PhD is very very selective, & MS intake is also too small--as far as I know.
  4. I don't think any of us sent the CFR form(at least I didn't). NCSU said they will decide on funding by march, so everybody waited. I beleive everybody here got TAs, which is decided by the admission committee, not any individual professor. So, I don't think 'proffletting' had anything to do with this.
  5. @pborosan: congrats! I also got the same letter, & also one from the csc department by the grad program director saying that I was awarded a financial packet worth 32 grands for the year. I guess you''l be recieveing the same mail any moment now.:tup: I am happy:D
  6. You CAN usually get into PhD program directly in US. Most of the deadlines are in december & january for fall session.
  7. Thanks pavel! & a late , late but a big big congrats on your osu PhD admit! wish to hear more good news from you!
  8. Congrats @ pborosan I got admitted too at NCSU CS PhD. Same letter as yours I guess(from the website) asking for my financial guarantee form. No words on aid yet. Adnan
  9. Hi:) I am a grad applicant for fall 2007, applying mostly for PhD, & some MS. Here is my profile: bachelors GPA: 3.67 out of 4.00 (from the 3rd best uni. of country) haven't done MS class pos: 5th out of 60 GRE: 580V + 800Q + 5.5AWA TOEFL: 293 (CAT) 4th year thesis project on DSP(average quality), some Database projects & other regular ones no paper interseted in: Networks or architecture I would like to know what are the current funding situations & admit situations in PhD in: 1. Texas A&M uni. 2. university of arizona 3. SUNY buffalo SUNY buffalo admits on MS first, then upon completion, you go to PhD. Does that mean my funding chances are slim also? Will greatly welcome any response! roni
  10. @pavelbuet I had the rar file in my HDD, & I can see those files properly. you have to install korean font pack from adobe site(if i remember correctly). Give it a try. AFAIK, if you open the file in pdf reader, adobe reader should give u a message on which font pack u need to install to view the file properly. Try to dl that pack.
  11. really, there is a ACUTE shortage of AGRE stuff:yuck: ...if there was something like big book...."ekebaare fataya deya jaito":(
  12. nope....studying undergrad books is pretty much it....also trying to solve as many as problems as I can. I think one should solve all the available CSGRE question sets(some zip files & links here, the REA book etc.). If you have some nicer idea or some material, please do share it with us:)
  13. usually, its 3 times a year: april, november, december. But not always available in all territories. Check out http://www.gre.org for details. roni
  14. thanks Calmlogic & Pavelbuet for replies! @pavelbuet: I am from Shah Jalal University of sci. & tech. 98 batch. good to see u here, mate! Btw, what about your normal GRE? given it yet? ***oops, excuse me for asking--I just read one of your previous posts & saw that you got a very nice score of 1450. Congrats! I got a not so good score of 1380(580 V). hope the adcom sees my 5.5 writing score as somewhat of a saving grace;) Adnan
  15. hi :) I registered for the nov 4 CSGRE about a month ago, but haven't received my admission tickets yet. Anybody in Bangladesh have any idea how long it takes to arrive? Also, please can anyone tell me if I can check my registration in any website, like in normal GRE/TOEFL? Thanks in advance. Adnan
