  1. Hello All, Here's my profile, needed some advice soon... Freelanced extensivly for web development company. Made Content Managment Systems for number of companies. 2. Lots of academic projects done at NCST and NIIT, some of the moderately complex (Dunno if this could be counted as work exp). 3. Doing my final year intenship in NASDAQ listed company. Will do so for 6 months. No papers to my credit I am planning to apply for fall 2007 for an MS in Computer Science. I have shortlisted the following univs. Could someone let me know a little about my chances in the same. Also a little about the job scene and aid scene in these places. --------------------------------------- USC Illiois Ins of Tech University of Ill Chicago Indiana Bloomington Northeastern Uni Worcester Polytech Institute NJIT Stevens Institute of Tech New York Institute of Tech New York University Polytechnic Univ Syracuse Rochester Institute of Tech Long Island Uni Suny Albany Suny Stony Brook ( Suny Buffalo ( University Of North Carolina, Charlotte Wright State Uni Oklahoma City Uni Drexel Temple Lamar uni Southern Methodist Uni Uni of Texas, Arlington University of texas, El Paso Texas A&M ( Texas Austin ( --------------------------------------- Financials are of primary concern, so would like to apply to univs which are cheap (around 10k-14k MAX tution fee per year). Also, would prefer univs where there is chance of financial aid, RA etc. Is there a chance for financial aid initially anywhere with my profile? Area of intersest could possibly be Data Structures and Algorithms however if i get through a good univ without this specialization option no issues. However, i think for a topic like this many univs would be having some ongoing research for this. Thanks a lot, eagerly awaiting a response...

  4. Hi, Can someone explain me what this essay topic means? "Complete publicity makes it almost impossible to govern" thanks
  5. For ans2. the opposite angle for AB is 55 degrees and BC is 35 degrees so AB must be bigger!
  6. Hey, Got these questions from this thread. The answer is given as 4. I am getting 5 such nos namely {12, 19, 26, 33, 40} Can someone explain? Can someone explain. Also, can someone suggest me some good online tutorial for learning SD and releated concepts! GRE in 1 week and havent looked @ that part yet. Major doubt in this Q. My interpretation: If x is between 0 and 1 which of these inequalities hold. 'A' was in red so i assume thats answer declared to be correct. I think A, B and C can be correct, for any of them if that value of X is between 0 and 1 the inequality holds true. Am i wrong? Thanks
  7. "Both the development of technological tools and the uses to which humanity has put them have created modern civilizations in which loneliness is ever increasing." This statement states that newer innovations (and thier use) have actually increased loneliness whereas i am of the opinoin that they have dont exactly the opposite. There is no doubt about the fact that there have been crucial changes in our lives due to technology however they have actually attributed to abridge the gap between people, not to increase the space. Thanks to these technological tools, our world has become a global village. Lets look at some of such technological tools, whos uses have helped us come closer. The telephone was invented by grahem bell a long time ago, since them its almost been omnipresent. Who doesnt have a telephone now-a-days? A husband out on a business trip can telephone his wife in order to get rid of his ennui. Friends can keep in touch however frequently they wish to whereever they maybe. All this has only been possible thanks to the invention of the telephone. Another major invention which has played a vital role in this case is the 'internet'. The internet is nothing but a large network of computers. There exsist various email applications on the internet which can help you send text messages to anyone anywhere in the world. Advances in email technology allow you to send audio and video in an email. Various chat applications exsist that allow you to chat with known and random people anywhere in the world. Discussion boards help you share your views on topics. Basically the internet has a gamut of options that can help you get rid of your loneliness anytime of the day. Maybe someday the internet will be some pervasive that you wouldnt need to go to the workplace at all. Assuming you have people staying with you at home, you'd never ever feel lonely. As a matter of fact you'd probably crave to be alone sometimes. Technology however has made certain changes in our lifestyles that may end up causing a distance in our relationships. Long working hours, frequent work trips and work stress seem to have become quite normal now-a-days. However, we have the changing times to blame for that, not the technological tools. They, on the other hand help us get rid of our boredom. NOTE: Please let me know if you think i can end up getting a 4+ for this.

What do you think of my chances of applying for a Phd? Also, please let me know about the Subject Gre prerequisite cause if i need to give it, i better start preparing early. Thanks
  9. Hey, I have done my Bachleors in Commerce and doing my Masters in Computer Application. I also have some freelance work ex and will have one year of work ex after my masters (my post grad includes 1 year of obligatory work). My acads in my masters are good. Well on the whole i have a satisfactory CV. 1. What are my chances in getting an admission for a Phd? 2. What score do you think i should aim at in my GRE? 3. Do we need to have some research exp to do a Phd? 4. Can anyone suggest me some good universities i should target looking at my background? 5. Is Subject GRE a prerequisite (in majority universities)? Thanks
  10. Hi, Here are some more details about how well prepared i am for my GRE currently. 1. I know my barrons well. I can recollect almost any word. 2. Maths is between average and good. Altough more practice could have helped (however in any exam you never feel prepared do you!, i just wanted to get this over with!). 3. I had practiced writing only 1 essay and 1 argument. I also hadnt gone through many topics as such. This is a section i was slightly worried about. 4. Here are my power prep score's. PwPrep1 (approx 20 days back) V:610 Q:680 1290 PwPrep2 (1 week back) V:560 Q:730 1290 With the cost of not sounding pompous i think i could have gone upto 1350 in my GRE if i had given it tommorow. Anyway, you can never say. So here is it. Hope you can help me better now. Thanks
  11. Hi, I had 2 days left for my GRE and for some reasons i will NOT be able to give it. I am VERY distressed and need some advice on when and how i should go about this all over AGAIN :(. I was moderately prepared for it and got about 1300 in both my power prep tests around 1 week back. I am planning to take my date in January again. I wanted to know how i should go about things now. I am afraid i may FORGET whatever i have done! Though i wasnt really awesome in maths, i may be worse later! Here is my schedule for the next 6 months. Please advice.. - September 10th - Till October 10th i maybe able to give time to GRE but not too much as i have already missed out on quite a lot of college. - October 10th - Till November 20th cant give time to anything else but college exams. Very less time to anything else. - Novbember 20th - College Exams (need to study for this, cant take lightly!) - December 1st - College Exams End. Break Starts - Jan 3rd - Approx, the break ends. College starts as usual. I was thinking i take my GRE around 1st Jan, but am afraid that i have only 1 month to prepare (its a break so i will have nothing else to do but yet). Also, please advice me some way that i dont forget my barrons wordlist. I know my words really well right now. Thanks
