  1. Well most testing locations don't have arrangments for CBT any more, because of the new iBT test. For more info check the TOEFL Bulliten available online from ETS website for the *CBT* version and not the iBT version. You can check from there if they are still offering CBT at your testing location. In general, most people like myself preferred taking the CBT because apparently it seems more easy, but its not difficult getting a good score in iBT as well.I can say that for sure, after going through both of the testing experiences and scoring 267/300 (CBT) and 111/120(iBT). Cheers, Cogbot
  2. Well I took my TOEFL iBT on August 26th, got my results online today. So any of you guys who took the test on the same day should check results online as well.Well, I think the 5 reading passages were a bit more difficult comparatively then usual, but I still managed a 29 in reading. So all is well that ends well. Cheers, Cogbot TOEFL iBT: 111/120 Reading: 29/30 Listening: 30/30 Speaking: 24/30 Writing: 28/30 TOEFL CBT (Expired this month): 267/300
  3. Well the TOEFL iBT test patterns states that there are like 3-5 passeges for 60-100 minutes having 12-14 questions each.....so it means like we have 20 minutes to answer questions for each passage? and the time limit changes accordingly ?
  4. You never mentioned where are you from ? Ahh..your going to LSE ? Ahh ace !!
  5. I should have used the word Personal Funding xD That explains it i guess.
  6. Thankyou you panda77 and cridamour for your advice !! This diploma course is the worlds oldest program in CS.The course in Cambridge admits only bout 10-15 people each year and has courses from their undergrad program along side a small project students have to work on.So the faculty is the same in otherways and I dont thinks its for overseas students only !!
  7. :D Thanx for the contacts monkeyman

    Simple nerd test.

http://www.nerdtests.com/images/ft/nq.php?val=5762 13% scored higher (more nerdy), and 87% scored lower (less nerdy). What does this mean? Your nerdiness is: High-Level Nerd. You are definitely MIT material, apply now!!!. xD dont know about MIT..but i managed to get into Cambridge somehow =D
  9. lol I know its really frustrating in a position like this xD
  10. I dont know if mailing professors really helps, I will try. My undergraduate project advisor/professor had a PhD from Imperial College London with interests in AI/Robotics..even he cant tell me much LOL..they just all are busy.
  11. The real thing that bothers me is, whats the diploma worth from Cambridge ? Like can it help me get into a good university in US for a PhD with aid..that why i'm confused. Also Cambridge ranks 2nd in the world after Harvard, according to rankings avaiable on the net.Camrbidge has a strong link with MIT, so i might get to meet all sorts of smart people apparently...increasing my exposure in different directions.
  12. Thanks alot ml2316 (dont know why it sounds like Machine Learning !) for a reply. I have private funding for one years study only.Well I had a 1st Class Honours degree in engineering before, but not much of an expericence with computer programming.Though my undergrad studies involved lots of computing in terms of software.I think a weird SOP of mines and strong recommendations always come in handy.I have an inclination for AI/Robotics as you probably have guessed.I like the Edinburgh option, but some thing is telling me to go for Cambridge after the name, as if it would help me out in the future with PhD and I would make my core computing skills strong. Though I still love the course at Edinburgh with so many courses in AI....I havent seen in a university before. I dont have an idea also how is Edinburgh like and the university in particular..seems boring !
  13. Thanks alot every one for the polls:tup: !! Id be glad if any one could justify their vote on the poll with a small post to this thread. Hoping to hear from you soon monkeyman:p
  14. I think MS without a thesis is something like a post-graduate diploma from UK.
  15. Ermm Hi every..ahh sorry i'm a lil confused about stuff and hope some one can help me out a little with some advice. Well I applied to a number of universities in UK and got admitted to a few (apart from being rejected by Oxford). I have a degree previously in engineering with interests in AI/Robotics. One of the few important ones I got admitted to are: University of Cambridge (Post-Grad Diploma in Computer Science) University of Edinburgh (Masters in Artificial Intelligence) Unversity College London - UCL (Masters in Intelligent Systems) I'm still waiting to hear from Imperial College London. I was considering to go for Univ. of Edinburgh because it has an old history in AI/Machine Learning along side MIT,Stanford and CMU.But the name of the Cambridge University ! though its offering me a diploma course rather then a masters. Any help or advice please !
  16. ...Oh my God !!!!

  18. bb2005 for the post... well you gave out some truth... Also does anyone have any idea how important is TSE for TA positions. Would it make much of a difference if some one does'nt take it for TA positions. And usually whatz the ideal score for that...don't say 60...bb2005..lolz
  19. ...yeah if i get the visa...lolz By the ways can i ask, are you into studies at some university ???
  20. lolz...I took the TSE-A :grad: ...Thanx anyways Knok for the reply. You and Elsie do a hell lot of work on posts....lolz
  21. Thanx for answering to my concern...who knows i might be needing a retest..probably yes after hearing from other guys...lolz...:yuck:
  22. Well i just took the test...but one thing i know this test can be beaten if we stop thinking that we have given 125$ for this and just try to feel relaxed. Also I've seen people who don't prepare for it and even don't know what's going to appear on the test. But one thing's for sure this test is some what weird anywayz..lolz..
  23. cogbot

    tse results

dexie",) don't worry TOEFL is a peice of cake as compared to TSE...lolz
  24. I hope dahuaxiyou you did a real fine job on the test as well... ..wish you best of luck this time. Also, does any one have an idea that when you retake the test, do you get the old score as well on your latest test reports or anything indicating that you re-took the test. One thing more... i had a real nice experiment this time...which made me feel way too over confident on the test day..unlike my natural self. I did not do much the day before test, except i had my favourite dinner and watched a couple of episodes of Friends...lolz. Lastly went to bed early. Also went to the test centre early and made my self accustomed to the environment there.. I hope this helps to people who are gonna take the test.:hmm:
  25. Thanx for posting the question Q3, I was missing that. Also the Q4 was some thing like how to get a job where you study..huh..?
