  4. Hii ! thanks fr the link greenlake awhig: there are 'no-cosigner loans' for international students where no american needs to sign on ur behalf rather the college does...check out if ur university provides it it has a disadvantage though , prettyyyy steep interest rates, almost 10% ! tht ways u end up paying lagaan until ur back is broken....maybe they offer a game of cricket as a means to get lagaan-maaf :D which course n university r u looking at? If there's anyone here who's thinking of no-cosigner loans I'd be glad to discuss out the details... Thanks!
  5. Thanks mba05! Im an international student and have no long terms plans yet about settling in a particular place... GMAT 670 ; GPA around 3.75 ; work ex around 2 yrs ; dont hv the economics or software background, i come from the health field just as u said i too have heard tht Dallas is a big state n also a corporate hub, so one does not have to make too many efforts to get decent placements....but then kelley is a much renowned college and it's course is ranked among the top 30 in most of the rankings...plus ya finance n general management r it's specialities but i still can't take a decision on kelley on 2 counts: 1. it's location: not a very happening business location, how much will tht affect placement chances 2. no schols: kelley hardly gives much schol n so its looking bad on finances aspect has anyone here taken the 'no-cosigner loan' for international students...can we discuss out the loan terms n repayment plans etc... thanks a lot....this forum is always a big help in understanding things in the right perspective!

  8. hii ppl! i got my final toefl score recently. it's 297. got a 6 on awa n missed one in structure but im happy wih the final score :D

  10. ! ! ! AMMMMMMAZZZZINNNNNNG! [clap] ur the one! good luck fr apps...though u hardly need any luk now on :D
  11. hii! oceana, a score of 30 should imly tht the answers were correct...besides, one does manage to attempt all the questions in toefl coz in this test time is not a problem....there's ample time to answer all alaa, thanks! toefl hardly needs any learning or mugging n so all one needs to do is to get familiar with the format of the test n practise accordingly. I think powerprep is the best bet. it has questions similar to toefl ones...even the photos in PP's listening sections n those in actual toefl r mostly the same ! so i developed a comfort level aftr doing PP. Section wise.. listening : if u have probs with this, the best bet wud be to watch CNN or some movies etc to get a hang of the tone n accent...going thr' idiom list might help structure: general grammar rules....Erin has put up some really nice stuff on testmagic reading: it is of basic level n plus uve got 70 minutes to complete the section!...no rush here just read carefully n that's it! writing: this remain the most non-practised part...for this going thr' the list of essays might be useful...i found following stuff on testmagic though i dint find time to go thr' this....maybe u'd like to check it out... http://www.www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?p=108804#post108804 this link has lotsoffffff prep material but plz dont ignore powerprep tests...they are the best! :D Allll the besttt!
  12. hieezzz! [dance] i agree with everything that has been said here about Erin...he's amazing :grad: n his dedication to this site is simply wonderfull! hats off to u Erin!! [clap]
  13. heyzzz! i took the toefl today...score range is : listening 30 str/writing 13 - 29 reading 30 total: 243-297 i think only powerprep tests tell u what to expect and thy r not to be missed! the test in fact ws quite easy thanks to this forum!
  14. hi sunilbhat i think usage of 'which' in itself is questionable here...in gmat it/which are preferred wen referring to nouns n not ideas...here we have an idea or a fact at hand Charlie didn't get the job in administration,(this fact) really surprised his friends we cud reframe it as the fact that charlie didn't get the job really surprised his friends or tht charlie didn't get the job was a fact/developmnt/occurence which really surprised his frnds :hmm: what do u think.. thks!
  15. i think its (A) dont like 'their' in D... D looks better without it Plz post the OA comp boss thanks!
  16. hard to choose between (A) and (D) qhoc, (E) is incorrect coz it uses 'if' to indicate a 'possibility' of an occurence but later uses 'will be' which indicates 'certainity'...rearranging the sent might help... Developing nations in various parts of the world have amassed $700 billion in debts; at stake is the solvency of some of the world’s largest multinational banks if a significant number of these debts will be repudiated--> not correct lets look at (A) Developing nations in various parts of the world have amassed $700 billion in debts; at stake is the solvency of some of the world’s largest multinational banks should a significant number of these debts be repudiated--> correct (D) - Developing nations in various parts of the world have amassed $700 billion in debts; at stake would be the solvency of some of the world’s largest multinational banks if there is a repudiation of a significant number of these debts-->sounds corect too so wots the better choice? thanks!
  17. should't (B) have a 'for' to complete the idiom 'to make up for' what he lacked in technical skill was more than made up for by... pls comment on this thnks!
  18. condition that requires a subjunctive ..only A uses a correct subjunctive form it might help to go thr' this http://www.www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18504
  19. it's a comparison between action and not nouns ...hence 'as' should be used because children don't do activity X , (the way adults do)/as adults do (X) , they may notice n remember....
  20. hey var4u the answer for 2nd one is (B) - If Levi-Strauss is right, myths are constructed bby a universal logic that, like language itself ,is as characteristic of human beings as nest-buiklding is of birds in the 3rd one if we read the latter part of sentence 9the non-underlined part) it is clear tht author is talking of a 'fact' here , a quality or wotever ...but not a person...a prsn cannot be apparent on a page A & B make Tom the subject E makes modern Balkans the sub D says '(the fact) that tom was...bla bla....is apparent on every page of the book'--correct C is incorrect coz it uses 'are' whereas we needed a singular verb hth
