With the use of this study material, I score 720 on GMAT and made it into a top 20 school in the US. With the right study material and hard work..YOU CAN MAKE IT TOO!!! Whats on the CD? Section 1: GMAT TESTS - 5 electronic tests from score800.com - 6 paper tests from Vstudy - 9 paper tests from ETS - Thousands of practice problems from GMAT Plus - 4 full tests from realtestquestions.com - Powerprep 3.0 Secton 2: TEST GUIDES - ETS Official Test Guide 10th Edition - Cambridge Review - Kaplan Workshops - Critical Reasoning Lessons Section 3: PROBLEM SOLVING - Compilation of hundreds of difficult MATH problems - Compilation of hundreds of Probability/Permutation/Combination Problems - Lessons that explain the concepts of Probability/Permutation/Combination SECTION 4: GMAT ESSAY SAMPLES SECTION 5: 1000 SOLVED SENTENCE CORRECTION EXERCISES SECTION 6: GMAT IDIOMS AND VOCABULARY You can have all of the above material for $ 20 on a CD that I will mail to you upon payment. Please email/message me in private if interested. Thanks!
  2. pach2212, can you please explain how you go these answers? Thanks!
  3. 1. A four-person jury is to be randomly selected from a pool of 30 equally qualified candidates of which 10 are female. After the first jury is selected, a second four-person jury is to be randomly selected from the remaining 26 (=30-4) candidates. Two all-female juries are selected. The defense lawyer of the defendant in the second trial claims the two juries were not selected randomly. Could the two all-female juries have been selected randomly? If the two all-female juries could have been selected randomly, what is probability of this happening? 2. At the typical FG&MIsc store, 20% of the customers buy gasoline and 70% of the customers buy food. Of the customers buying gasoline, it has been found that 60% of them purchase food. a) Find the probability that a typical customer buys both gasoline and food. b) Find the probability that a food-buying customer purchases gasoline.
  4. 1. An oil company has identified 15 promising sites for striking oil in a remote region of the world. The company has only one drilling rig in the region and time to drill only 5 wells before -30 degree and lower temperatures set in for winter (and all drilling must stopped until May). How many different ways can 5 drilling sites be chosen from the 15 candidates when the first site chosen will be drilled first, second chosen drilled second, ----? 2. A shipment of 80 parts is received by a company. The company will randomly select 10 parts from the 80. After the sample of 10 is taken, the firm will inspect entire sample to see how many defective parts it contains. If there is more than one defective part in the sample, the firm will return the entire shipment to the supplier; otherwise the shipment will be kept and used. In terms of the way this firm functions, how many different samples of 10 can be selected from a shipment of 80 parts?
  5. 800Bob, This makes sense and I am sure they won't have such difficult problems, but it is always good to be a step ahead :-) Thank you!
  6. The provost of a state university is applying for a chancellor position. At a certain point in her application process, she is under consideration at seven universities. At three of the seven she is a finalist, which means that she is in the final group of three applicants, one of which will be chosen for the position. At two of the seven universities she is a semifinalist, that is, one of six candidates (in each of the two universities). In two universities she is at an early stage of her application and believes there is a pool of about 20 candidates for each of the two positions. Assuming that there is no exchange of information or influence, across universities as to their hiring decisions and that the chancellor is as likely to be chosen as any other applicant, what is the provost’s probability of getting at least one job offer?

  8. 1. A chemical plant has an emergency alarm system. When an emergency situation exists, the alarm sounds with probability 0.98. When an emergency situation does not exist, the alarm system sounds with probability 0.01. A real emergency situation is a rare event occurring with probability 0.002. Given that the alarm has just sounded, what is the probability that a real emergency situation exists I am getting an answer of .00196 Can some pls confirm? Thanks!
  9. I am not sure what the answer is. Can you please explain your approach? Thanks!
  10. A drug manufacturer believes that there is a 0.90 chance that the FDA will approve a new drug the company wants to distribute if the results of current testing show that the drug does not cause side effects. The manufacturer believes there is a 0.40 probability that the FDA will approve the drug if the test shows that the drug does cause side effects. A physician working for the drug manufacturer believes there is a 0.20 probability that tests will show that the drug causes side effects. Calculate the probability that the drug receives approval by the FDA?
  11. I am not sure abt the answers. Can you pls explain how you got them? Thanks!
  12. Suppose it is known that 88% of the people who inquiry about investment opportunities at a brokerage house end up purchasing stock, and 35% end up purchasing bonds. It is also known that 28% of the people end up purchasing both stocks and bonds. a. What is the probability that a person purchase at least one of the firm’s two investment vehicles (stocks and/or bonds)? b. What is probability that a person purchases neither stocks nor bonds? c. What is probability that a person purchasing stock will also purchase bonds
  13. Damn man...thats an amazing score. Congratulations! 51 in Verbal seems such a long shot for me. Anyway, good luck with your applications. This is truly a well deserved score.
  14. First one is a permutation problem. I thought it was a combination, but none of the answer choices matched my answer ( thank god). Then I did this the permutations way and my answer matched the answer choice ;)
  15. For 1) the answer is D. The total number of shirts that can be bought is 9. 9 shirts cost $305.10 (including s&H). If you buy 8, it goes below 280 and if you buy 10, it goes above 335. Therefore, the answer in both cases in same . i.e 9. So both statements are enough.
  16. A lot of people asked me what kind of probability problems I got on the actual exam. Since I signed a non disclosure agreement, I can't reveal the actual questions, but following are two permutation/combinations- probability problems similar to the ones I got on the real GMAT. 1. There is a set of characters, A B C D E F G H I J K. There are 4 character and 3 character codes to be made out of these characters. What is the ratio of the total number possibilities of the 4 character codes to the total possibilities of the 3 character codes? 2. There are 6 red balls and 3 blue balls in a bag. 2 red balls are taken out. What is the possibility that the next ball taken out will be a red ball? ( Yeah, they are that simple)
  17. I don't think they will want you to go so deep as quadratic equations. At that point, it becomes out of scope. You are right, I think the question is poorly written and I don't know why I assumed that it is a 45-45-90 triangle. Anyway, I am going to stick around just to stay in touch with GMAT - in case I HAVE TO and absolutely have to take it again.:)
  18. When the ball falls to the ground, the height is zero. Substituting it in the equation, you will get the value of t= 4 secs
  19. Since its a right triangle, the sides will be in the ratio 1:1:sqrt 2 You just need to know the length of the hypotenuse and that is enough information to figure the rest out.
  20. Good job dude. You deserve it. All the best with your apps.
  21. Thanks for your replies and good wishes. I just wanted to add- please don't worry about the probability and permutation/combinations problem, the question they ask on the exam are very elementary. We have been solving real tough problems here on the forum. For Verbal- [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] IS ENOUGH. I did the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] SC's and CR's twice and trust me, after that, I could pretty do these even in my sleep. I am not a native speaker, but I think I had a good grip of SC and CR's ( or so I thought). Honestly, I was not expectly to score more than 45 in Quant and more than 40 in Verbal, but my verbal score was total shock. Anyway, its over for me. I am applying to the part-time MBA programs at William and Mary and Virginia Tech. Both of these will let me keep my job and still attend school. I will keep you guys posted. I now need to get back to normal life. These past few months have been hard on my wife. I promised I will take her out for dinner tonight. So, see you guys later.
  22. Hi Folks, Took GMAt this morning and screwed it up pretty bad. Got a 550 ( Q-42, V-25). Verbal score was a total surprise. Verbal section seemed so unbelivably easy that I thought I was surely scoring 40+, but was shocked to see my score. Quant started with two tough DS problems which I think I got correct. So I got one probability and one permutations problem both of which we have solved on testmagic ;) . There was one DS on mean/median. The PS was fairly straight fwd, but the DS was messed up. Lots of problems on number properties which were very hard to figure out. I thought I had messed up in Quant. Verbal was totally of [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] level. RC's were long, but the the questions were pretty easy. With my busy work schedule, I don't think I have time to take GMAT again. I am going to apply with this score. If I don't get into the program because of the low GMAt score, I will consider taking it again in a few months. I have never been good at these timed standardized tests. No matter how much I study, I just don't seem to do well on these. 5 years ago, I had bombed my GRE in a similar way. Anyway, I still managed to do my MS and hopefully, with my 550 in GMAT, I will manage to do my MBA also ;) . Right now, I can't think of taking the GMAt again, I don't have time nor do I have the patience. i think the rest of my application is pretty strong. I have written good essays, I have good recommendations and my BS and MS GPA's are fairly competitive. I will wait to hear from the admissions committee on what they think of my GMAT. Let me know if you guys have any questions I could answer. Good luck to all and thanks for helping me with my studies :)
