    PNN

Hello, I'm primarily using PNN. Planning on taking the exam in Sept. If you are interested, please PM me.
  4. Hello, I'm so sorry, I just saw your message. I haven't logged in here for 2 months. Have you taken the test already? If you want to study, please send me a PM
  5. Hello, If a candidate failed NAPLEX in California, how long would it take until he can register again for NAPLEX? I understand that the NABP site mentions 3 months/90 days. The reason I'm asking is because everything with reference to California board of pharmacy is slow! Thanks
  6. Hello, I'm taking NAPLEX in a couple of months. Primarily studying out of PNN book and doing questions from the Rx Prep Q bank. I'm in Southern California and work part-time (mostly weekends). I am looking for a study partner mainly for discussing questions and staying on track. If anyone interested, please PM me. Thanks!
  7. Hello Pauk, thank you. I'm in California. I just got my RxPrep copy (for 2015) yesterday. I haven't purchased the online Q bank with RxPrep yet. I plan on following RxPrep book, Passnaplexnow book, and Prontopass math. I think that this should be sufficient. I don't want to confuse myself with too many resources. You can PM me your number. Let us see how we can take this forward.
  8. Hello Pauk, what study material are you following? I am looking for a study partner too. I plan on taking the exam in Nov.
  9. I'm not in PA or NJ, but I'm studying for my NAPLEX. Would be happy to talk to you. PM me if you can. Good luck
  10. I'm also looking for a serious study partner. I plan on taking the exam in September.
  11. Hello all, Here is the situation - I've CPJE scheduled for 28th March, ATT expires April 12th and NAPLEX scheduled for 4th April, ATT expires April 11th. I go to school in USA (not a pharmacy related program) and I'm trying to graduate so I have no time to study for these exams. I know if I take these tests I'm going to fail. Now these are the options I am thinking about - 1) Take the tests, if I pass... miracle, if I fail I wait and study hard next 3 months and take the tests again. 2) Cancel the tests now, let the ATT expire and re-register for the exams and get a new ATT. My question is - 1) What would you do if you were in my shoes? 2) If I cancel my test and re-register, will I lose one attempt? 3) Does California BOP need any explanation for why I let my ATT expire? Do they give a hard-time to reprocess new ATT? Thank you very much.
  12. I have not taken NAPLEX yet, but this is my impression, so don't count me on it. You have to know the brand names. period. no ifs and buts about it. If you step into the real pharmacy world outside, you will see that even technicians say "hey did you put that zyvox in?" "give me 1 colace from the top of that rack." Dosing - I wouldn't worry about memorizing all dosing. Its not humanly possible to remember all that information. What I would try to remember is, drugs with very narrow T.I. vancomycin trough and peak dose calculations, because their is high chances of getting Qs on that. In addition to this you have to memorize most important things about top 200 frequently used drugs in p'cy. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  13. No, I'm still looking for an internship. I haven't found any.
  14. I can relate. But you are here, so lets try to think what you can do with what you have now. 1) You need to email them or talk with them on phone. I think, you can explain your situation better in email. What kinda family situation are you referring to? Death? birth? illness? hospitalization? abortion? taking care of family members? All these incidences can be proved using a paper certificate. May be you can consider sending them an attested copy of this alongwith your email. 2) They said that they are okay with sending them back your license, right? If I were in your shoes, I would do that. That would at least put the ticking clock on hold. Its better than nothing. I understand that it won't buy you more time, but I would do that as my 1st measure of defence, if I were in your shoes. 3) Then start looking for internship. May be I missed the details from your post, but how many months do you have left on your license? Sit down and calculate how many hours of internship can you realistically do in a day and complete 1500 hours? What if you put in 12 hours/day, may be take a day/week off, and work like a dog for 4-5 months, and complete your hours. It seems possible, right? CA board, does not put any restriction on how many hours you can do in a week. Hope this makes sense. Good luck!
  15. It took a month for me to get my intern license after I applied for it, but I'm in CA itself and I didn't request fingerprint cards. I went to a place where electronic fingerprinting service was offered and they send a copy out to CA board of p'cy, I guess. See to it that your application is complete in all aspects before you send it out. Good luck.
  16. Hello pharmday, Yes, it is difficult to find an internship position in a hospital pharmacy. Do you drive? If I were you, I would ask around, track hospitals (private, community) within a 20-25 mile radius from your residence and either email, call, and if nothing works, personally go visit the pharmacy director, explain your situation. If you show willingness to work on weekends at a hospital pharmacy, they will certainly consider that. My feeling is that you may get to work a few hours a week but you may not get paid for it. Normally, a hospital outpatient pharmacy is considered similar to a retail pharmacy. So I think, when they say "hospital experience", they are referring to "inpatient pharmacy experience". As per my knowledge, CA pharmacy board requires that you sign a paper that says that you have acquired hours in both outpatient and inpatient setting. They don't specify how many hours in each setting. But remember for each pharmacy you work at, your pharmacy manager or director (in hospital setting) will need to turn in a separate sheet for hours completed to the CA board of pharmacy. Good luck! -
  17. Hi sannoun, I agree with you that H1-B situation is tough. Here is my suggestion - can you volunteer as a Pharmacy Intern anywhere? In other words, offer to work as a Pharmacy Intern for free. Make sure that they are willing to sign on your hours though. People will be very happy to use your help. It will be difficult to do this in Chain Pharmacy eg. rite aid, CVS, etc. but you can always try independent Pharmacies. The advantage is that only 1 person i.e. the owner is responsible (mostly) for all the decisions there as opposed to the chain p'cies. I don't know what part of the country you are at and what is your visa status but if you get licensed or show that you are very close to getting licensed when you approach employers, it puts you in a better bargaining position. You can ask your state board of Pharmacy to find out if they accept >40 hrs/wk of intern experience. Then you can put in more hours and finish them quickly. I'm in CA and CA does accept >40hr/wk. (I know some states don't). Also, for H1B consider areas of need. eg. where they normally have difficulty finding a candidate. They will go an extra mile to file for you. Good luck!
  18. Hello all, I'm a foreign student in USA & would be graduating with an MS degree. I would like to start an internship in CA soon and I have some questions on that. 1) CA board of pharmacy requires institutional as well as community experience during internship. If Walgreens/Rite-Aid sponsors an H1, will they take care of this for us so that we can get licensed in state of CA? or Do they arrange to send us for few hours of internship in a hospital pharmacy etc.? or we are left on our own to take care of this issue even after such chain pharmacies hire us? if yes, how to solve this issue? 2) Once an application is sent to CA p'cy board, it takes 60 days to get your intern license. Did anyone take more than 60 days to get their's? 3) Does the intern license come with an expiration date? Can we extend the intern lincese in CA? 4) How should we proceed about fingerprint background check? Who does that for us? I will appreciate if anyone can help me with the answers to these questions. Thank you for your time and attention.
  19. Hello all, I am thinking of changing careers from being a pharmacist to becoming a software professoinal. I would appreciate your advice on this matter. My educational BKG - B.Pharmacy in India GPA - 3.99/4.0 Work experience in hospital and clinical pharmacy, research in India - 4 years about to complete MS Pharmacology in USA (1 of the top 50 medical schools in CA) 2007- GPA - 3.66 (probably)/4.0 I have taken a no. of SPSS statistics classes and have excelled in those. I also developed an MS Access database to manage our clinical research data. GRE 2003 - 1040 (V-400 something, Q - 500 something) :( (I am aware that this is a poor score. I will probably need to take GRE again. What is a desirable score to get into MS CS?) AWA - 4.5/6.0 TOEFL old - don't remember the score but was >150/200 I will have to retake it, since the score is no longer valid. Reason I want to join CS field – 1) pay 2) job opportunity Some questions - 1) What should I do to get admission to an MS CS program in USA? How should I go about it? Is it unusual to switch from pharmacy to CS? What are my chances of getting in? What is a desirable score to get into MS CS? Does one take subject GRE as well? 2) Is it a good idea / is it mandatory to have engineering background in order to get an admission to MS CS? what pre-requisites should I take before joining MS CS? Will I be expected to join BS/MS program? or get a BS 1st then join MS? 4) I do not have much knowledge of computers other than the one mentioned above, no additional projects etc. in computer field. Will this harm my entree in MS CS program? What can I do about it this point on? 5) How bad is the competition to get into a CS program in US? 6) Is an MS sufficient to get a job in this field? I am new to this area and trying to explore my options. Any advice, suggestion , and guidance is very welcome and appreciated. Thank you for your time and attention.

  22. Hello friend, I have taken TSE-P twice at UC Riverside. Mind well that there are two test centers even in UC Riverside. I do not know what is the difference. I have had a good experience with UC Riverside test center no. x381. They give you seperate room. The surrounding is quiet. The hallways are quiet. The staff is good. The test center is not sofisticated. They still use the traditional telephone system. I never passed TSE when I took it at UC Riverside though. I passed TSE after changing the test center to Alliant International University at San Diego which is almost 2 hours drive from UC Riverside. Hope this information helps. Good Luck. Nairutya
  23. Hi, You can contact Bruno Hill by e-mail bruno@jdacademy.com Hope this helps. Good Luck & wish you all a successful new year. Nairutya
  24. dear members, I finally scored 50 on TSE - I took the test twice at the same test center: UC Riverside & the 3rd time I took it at Alliant International University, San Diego. I guess changing the test center helped me. - I tried to work on reducing my accent. I joined Bruno Hill's online coaching class. He helped me reduce my accent & also pointed out mistakes in my grammar & construction. I listened to CNN news to get correct accent of commonly used words & practiced saying those words again. - I'm thankful to knok & elsie who helped me. Nairutya
