Accepted off waitlist yesterday. Will likely attend.

They had a virtual open house on March 28th, so I suppose they have made all decisions except for the offers they make for waitlisted people.

“We are very impressed by your profile, and we think that you would be a great addition to our program. However, due to the large amount of uncertainty this year, we are making decisions more slowly. As a result, we will place you on our waitlist for admission. I want to emphasize that you are near the top of our waitlist. We hope to provide an update the week of April 1.” Well the practical issue is that no one knows what they mean by “near top of the list” lol. I was waitlisted without interview fyi.

In that in-person open house invitation they say they invite me because I am high on the list. But I think chances are not much different. "We have begun to make formal admission offers. An invitation to this closed event means that you are high on our list of possible admits to the USC PhD in Economics program's Fall 2023 cohort, which will matriculate in August 2023."
