Why would they keep a longer waitlist when they know that most students accept their offers? Has there been any movement on their waitlists?

I received an email from a university I am waitlisted at (very high on the waitlist). They said that this year a number of high profile institutions have placed a high number of students on the waitlist and as a result these students have delayed communication to other universities including this one. Does anyone have more info on this?

Did you mail them? It is possible that you are on the waitlist.

How long are the waitlists at T30ish schools? Also, how do schools decide which students to take off the waitlist?

Do you know if they send invitations to waitlisted or international students? I have been waitlisted (they said they will update me soon but no idea when they actually plan on updating).

Anyone know if UC Davis will send more offers? Is not having heard anything an IR?

When did you hear back? I am hoping they have more offers to send. Else, this one will be an IR for me as well.
