  1. An undergrad in my lab got acceptance from MIT chemistry. She got an email (if I remember correctly) from them in the beginning of this month (around the 4th or 5th).
  2. Sounds like it is not advisable to take a year off and reapply rather than taking up whatever offer you have. My situation is pretty much like Joe's and I was thinking about reapplying next year. My admit in hand is good, actually very good in my discipline (one of the UCs) ...but it is not where I really want to go. So, I am wondering if I accept the offer and try to do a transfer to another preferred school, is it that easy to do so? It was kind of unfortunate that my publication couldn't get published by the time I sent out my application. I think this would strengthen my profile. I will have 2 publications by next year, and I will also be able to retake the standard tests and fix the flaws I had for this year. My major is chemistry. Any suggestions?
  3. Anybody from California received the score yet?
  4. Thanks, gstergia! I really aprreciate your info. I personally think it depends too. Maybe the year after you have publications if you were not lucky to be able to publish by the time you applied. Maybe the year after your scores dramatically improve. Those might be the reasons. But still, I was wondering why some schools ask if you have previously applied. They can check your profile last year?
  5. Hi all, I was wondering about reapplying to schools. Is the chance to get in lower when you reapply? Or it depends on your current profile. But then why some schools ask if you have previously applied to their schools before. Anybody has any experience about this? Let's share. Thanks.
  6. I didn't ace it, but I guess it was ok..800. What about yours?
  7. Sorry guys... my thread should have gone to Graduate Forum, not Success. Anyway, it would be nice if you guys can share your information. Thanks.
  8. I applied to the Department of Chemistry and no, I am not a native of US. I am an international student. They offered me ~ $23,000 a year (after taxes) + $1,500 cash award when I begin my study in Fall 05. That is pretty good, isn't it?
  9. Hi all, Has anybody applied for Ph.D. in chemistry? I applied to 12 schools and already heard from 4; 2 acceptances and 2 rejections. One of those schools I applied was MIT. I am dying to know if you guys or friend of yours heard from MIT Chemistry. Let me know...pleaseeeeeeeee ;) . Thanks!!
  10. Yes, I have. I submitted my application last week of Jan and got an acceptance last week. It's a big shocking cuz my friend already got rejected by the time I sent my appl. Which program did you apply to?
  11. Has anybody applied for Chemistry PhD @ MIT? Or if you have any friends who already heard from MIT Chemistry, please let me know. Thanks and good luck to you all.
