Sounds like it is not advisable to take a year off and reapply rather than taking up whatever offer you have. My situation is pretty much like Joe's and I was thinking about reapplying next year. My admit in hand is good, actually very good in my discipline (one of the UCs) ...but it is not where I really want to go. So, I am wondering if I accept the offer and try to do a transfer to another preferred school, is it that easy to do so? It was kind of unfortunate that my publication couldn't get published by the time I sent out my application. I think this would strengthen my profile. I will have 2 publications by next year, and I will also be able to retake the standard tests and fix the flaws I had for this year. My major is chemistry. Any suggestions?
