  1. Yeah I too feel E is rather logical.
  2. Agreed :), another logic .. breaching of X results Y. thus C could be the right answer.

  4. Hi Sandhya, Well, it depends ! Some Universities ask for it for granting the TAs where as a good number of them dont. So, it depends whether you have enough time and the University you are applying needs one to be taken or not. Difficult Question ! :) I too had the same question when I started off, but let me tell you, its your call basically. My best advice to you could be, go to the University webistes, try learn as much as possible about their CS departments, their relative strengths and weaknesses and if you like a University, apply to it, As simple as that :D ! Congratulations on your fabulous GRE score and All the Best for your TOEFL :) PS : Please post your query in the appropriate forum for better response and a for a wider audience. All the Best !
  5. Hi Manasi, Hope you have convalesced completely and are live and cheerful Manasi, that we have known for over an year now :) . To be very honest I too was let down and thought, GOD MUST CRAZY, after going through the post of your GRE debacle. God tests all of us at a different times and I am sure a brave girl like you would need very little to fight back again with all vigour and thus would not want to belabour the obvious any more. Highly admirable is your courage in the face of adversity in having to recapitulate the unwholesome experience, which is the a good enough fortification of the same. Not persiting with the petty details any longer, I suggest you should chart out an action plan immediately . One option ofcourse is retaking the test, a handful in our own forum had done that successfully and improved their scores considerably the next time around. The other option, I am sure you must be aware off, is the fact that GRE is just one part of the whole application and is often used as a cut-off by the adcom in admission procedure. Thus, working on other equally(if not more) important parts of the application like the SOP, Recos and Projects can do a world of good to your admission prospects this year itself.(unless you have very special interest in particular schools) You are a big girl and I am sure you will take a judicious decision. No matter what ever decision that you take, we are all at the back of you in everything and continue to look forward to your inspiring participation :) . So dont worry, have a bash and am damn sure you will come trumps one day  Cheers.
  6. How about next year, april 2006 ?
  7. Chill :) that was my mistake ! I created a thread for this question initialy and then thought it was redundant, thus requesed Erin to delete this one. so no worry. So nice of you that you have answered my question :) Yeah apparently, thats what i have learned from the other members in our Forum. You can make changes to the list that you have selected earlier using the correction stub. But I guess, you need to send in the corrected stub before the actual test date or I don know if we can change that on the test day itself. :hmm:
  8. If its not getting mundane thanks a lot:) . Some very good info and tips there.
  9. I tried to register for the subject test and was dumbfounded to find that i need to select schools that I intend to send the scores to, now itself as apposed to the general GRE. I would ideally want to select the Universities on the basis of how well I fare in the test. How should one go about this :hmm:.

  11. Thanks a lot Sujatha for your valuable information. :) It did help me a lot. Cheers
  12. Hi Can some body let me know the procedure of registration of the subject test from India? I was wondering, prometric.com does not have the option of registering for a subject test. Thanks in anticipation.
  13. Thanks a ton for your feedback :) . Have corrected the spelling mistakes, can you please comment on the over all presentation of the essay. Thanks once again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1."It’s always an individual who is the impetus for innovation; the details may be worked out by a team, but true innovation results from the enterprise and unique perception of an individual." Innovation is conceiving of any thing non-existent before, and that has nothing to do with the individual but the actual thought process involved. Often innovative ideas are a result of acute thinking in terms of one individual or a team working closely and passionately on a domain. When you have a lot of passion for something and have the knack of questioning the obvious, "Why is this happening the way it is at the moment, Aren't there any other alternatives to go around the problem" This kind of morbid curiosity often results in striking innovations that change the way the world operates. Often great ideas originate from brain storming rather than providence. That brainstorming undoubtedly would be more complete and fruitful if there is more than one person involved. All-time great companies like Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Google amongst others are the result of a team rather than an individual. All these companies have been successfully leading the information age with the their innovations and often these are path breaking. I have taken the example of Information technology in order to illustrate this point because IT is probably the most happening of all. The same thing applies to any other field as well. Even though Newton is regarded as the Father of Science and was instrumental for many path breaking innovations that have not only influenced the lives of millions of people round the world but also paved the way for more technological innovations, it is important to identify the source of these innovations is the idea rather than a person. Its absolutely illogical to assume that had there been a friend of Newton who accompanied him in his research, would not have been a part of that idea. Furthermore its more likely that they could have taken their innovations a further during the discussions between them. Moreover, it has become the order of the day amongst the youth these days aspiring to become entrepreneurs and notably all the new and upcoming companies are a result of more than one individual. All these have come up during the discussions amongst friends, classmates, thier thesis work or some project that they have undertaken. Thats probably is one reason why the university system in many countries supports and/or calls for teamwork rather than individualistic brilliance. Google is one classic example of the same. It was thesis work that Sergey Brin and Larry Page have undertaken in Stanford University as part of their Masters, which later evolved as the largest search engine ever. To conclude, I would like to bring the fore, the fact that innovation is not necessarily a individual's feat, its rather of an organized thinking and rationale and has nothing to do with the number of people involved. Ultimately the idea might have been evolved out of a single person, but one should not forget that the impetus for the same might well have been from the brainstorming with another. Thus its absolutely inane on ones part to comfortably assume that these innovations on each occasion, are sole proprietary of a single individual only.
