  1. yep.....thats how it is.....you put the university code and then enter "00" for the department code. I did this for the following schools NCSU Drexel Univ. of Wisconsin Madison just confirm with the different universities before requesting ETS to send your scores.......
  2. Thats quite suprising. I have a couple of friends who have done BSc in Biotechnology and all graduate schools they contacted said this 10+2+4 stuff. And in India, we also follow the british honor system.:hmm:
  3. Hi! Students in their final year are eligible for admission. However, in your case you are doing a Bsc in SE, which I assume is a course of three years. To be eligible for MSc in US you should have completed 10+2+4 yrs of formal education. If your course is for four years then you can apply....
  4. There is no sure shot method of converting your percentage to GPA. The colleges in US have a fairly decent idea of the percentage system of different universities and grade you accordingly. Regrading your finances, you must show liquid funds to cover all expenses (tuition and living) for the first year of study during your visa interview. However, for the application process you must show availability of funds for the first year of study in a bank certificate or something like that. All z best for your apps.

    visa date dilemma

Hi! Good to know that you are from Bangalore, as I am from there too. Are you applying for Spring 2006?? or is it a year later?? Anyway, as you rightly said, all dates in Chennai are booked till mid February. So if you are looking at Spring 06 admission, then I suggest that you apply for an appointment in Delhi (currently the whole of December is available). There is no way that you attend a visa interview without deciding on a university. Once you have obtained a visa you must attend that college for at least one semester, and then you can apply for a college transfer. Ideally the safe visa dates are from mid november to mid december........... hope that answers everything.
  6. congrats.......and which field and specialization??????
  7. Man from which era are you?????????? I have posted the lastest 2006 rankings from US News. N E 1 can confirm that.......

  10. I guess you should be okay...........most uni's have deadlines in October so that should not be a problem........but check with the department you are appplying to. Also, you should fill up the application forms by mid september. You can always send them your GRE scores and other supporting documents later then. BTW, whats your profile and where are you applying?
  11. I guess you mean Purdue......unless its a new university. haha just kidding:)
  12. Hi! Great to meet you!!! You are actually the first person from Manufacturing that I have come across. I have done my Manufacturing Engineering from Bangalore University in BMS College. You have a great profile in my opinion. My profile: GRE : 1430 (V-650 Q-780 A-5.5) TOEFL : 270 ACADS : 64.5% (no CGPA here) other than that 1project on automation and thats it...........i really didn't do too much during my Engineering.........no journals or publications...........which I guess was a bad mistake...........this also seems to be my achille's heel here......... I have been working in a manuafcturing firm for the past three and a half years though..... regarding recos........one from my boss and one from my direct supervisor as this is the most recent information that I can provide...........and one from my HOD....they all should be pretty strong though..........i hope so at least....... I will be applying for the Sring 06 semester in mechanical and industrial in various colleges...........lets see how it goes........ Thanks a lot for all the help and stay in touch............you never know......i might just get admitted into the same college as you do (god-willing!) btw...........uma???......it that a guys or a girl's name???????????:)
  13. Great admits! Both of them!! Your choice depends on your budget and where you want to specialize in. Congrats!!! Could you please post your profile and other experiences about your admission process. I look to aplply in both colleges in the same fields that you have chosen. Anything you say will be helpful. Thanks in advance!!
