  1. Six months ago speed at Bombay Poona highway was increased by 10 miles per hour, it has caused more no of accidents to occur on this roads due to this increase in speed on the other hand the speed at a adjacent highway remain unchanged. It is noticed that at this highway the accidents, which occurred in the last six months, have reduced just a bit in comparison to regular numbers. So to reduce the accident the speed at Bombay Poona highway should be reduced to what it was before. It is very essential for us to drive cautiously to avoid accidents. They can be minor as well as major, which can prove fatal at times. There are various aspects for an accident to take place and driving rash is one of the prime factors as is rightly mentioned in the passage above. Life is comedy of errors and its very existence becomes precarious when it is put to risk, what more than unfortunate incidents, which occur in ones life, prove this fact. The speed was increased on Bombay Poona highway; this is attributed as a major factor for the increase in the number of accidents. There can be several other factors, which are not mentioned, in the above passage. The weather conditions prevailing at that time may be bad, the condition of the roads might have deteriorated, the proper safety measures while driving could have been avoided. Traffic police might be negligent in these last six months. Moreover since the other road is adjacent the general public might be tempted to use this highway as the speed limit is increased and they can reach their destinations early, so more amount of traffic flow could be a major factor contributing to more no of accidents in comparison to the decrease in number on the adjacent road, as no specific reason has been mentioned in the passage for this reduction. The other reason might be that the general public must be more busy with their schedules so they didn’t do so much of touring as it is a highway so common traffic doesn’t use this in daily life. Accidents could have also increased due to increased negligence in driving such as overtaking from a wrong direction, not using dipper and horns properly at night, not using belts. May be some racing competition has taken place which might be a cause for the above. Also the experience of the driver matters and the persons driving might be learners who are not exposed to proper rules of driving. To conclude, accidents are untoward incidents and thus should be avoided by driving with utmost care and protection. We should always remember better late than never. The speed should be decreased back to normal, moreover for a certain period of time it should come down below normal to restore proper conditions. Other measures to improve the conditions of road and driving should also be taken into consideration.

  3. COMPETITION IS ULTIMATELY MORE BENEFICIAL THAN DETRIMENTAL TO SOCIETY: As it is well said by Shakespeare that ‘life is a comedy of errors’ which has its ups and downs, pros and cons and is not a bed of roses for any individual. In this modern age of industrialization and revolution each one of us has to support our living with our contemporaries by indulging in a tough competition and to survive we ought to supercede in every walk of life to make a world of beautiful tomorrows for ourselves. The will to succeed and overpowering others has to within the nerves of the common man to achieve his goal in life. Man is a social animal and is never satisfied in the exhort to achieve more and sometimes he may follow the wrong path which might lead to its decline. It is therefore mandatory in the present day scenario to have a healthy competition in every aspect of life for us to surpass others and fulfill our desires by proper methods. Competition can be in any form and from any level rising from a will to succeed in a schoolboy to an individual becoming a prime minister of a country. It is very necessary that we must take competition to be healthy in any form and should also try to accept our defeats at times and should always remember that failure are the stepping stones to success. We must never use detrimental means to win our point or view and should learn from our mistakes and remember that if there’s a will there’s a way. Due to increased corruption in our society the competition has also lead to insalubrious means. The lower class people in order to thrive for more has started stealing and indulging in unhealthy modes to win their point. A common man is also deprived of its right at times because politicians and other powerful people tend to win the race by their sources, which he cannot afford to have. A real life example can be quoted here. The famous personality like DHIRUBHAI AMBANI etc today are remembered for their services rendered to us and it was only due to his will to achieve his goal through a competitive atmosphere made this possible for him. It is therefore the moral responsibility especially of parents to teach their children a right pathway towards his desires and condemning them wherever their means are destructive rather than constructive. One should also take into account the society he chooses to live with, if we are living in a circle that is energetic and enthusiastic, we can always thrive to win. It is always a satisfactory feeling whenever we win something by undergoing a tough race and it always boost our morals to search for better opportunities and growth prospects. On the other hand if we gain something by ill means we have have that feeling of discontent and will never be self-satisfactory. We must not forget that if wealth is lost, nothing is lost, if health is lost something is lost but if character is lost everything is lost. Remember competition will always tend to rise in every field and we must run in the face in a safe manner to make our society a better place to live in by learning from our examples as life of great men all remind us, we can make or life sublime.
  4. The media (books, television, music etc.) tend to create rather than reflect the values of a society. Man is a social animal. He resides in a culture, which has insurmountable laws and freedom to access what he wants to possess. This solemn urge to attain and supercede in every walk of life is more influenced rather than inbuilt. His values, ethics, morals etc works on him during the entire span of his life. This showy existence is due to innumerable factors and tough unlisted, media remains in its form one of the most important factors to limit a domain of an individual. Technology has by far shown the exponential rise since the time it came into existence, it has many desirable but also fatal effects. Today In our daily lives we tend to abide by the laws of media and not of nature. So in short they try to create a trend rather than reflect which is widely accepted with great enthusiasm without looking into its pros and cons. It is due to the never-ending craze, which is installing a desire and a passion among us to go for the media. We do have a mania for it now, but we hardly realize the flaws it possesses. We learn from it and start respecting it and then try implementing it in our daily lives. Media has now become trendsetters. The originality is just a wild dream now as everything, which exists, today is imitated. Media itself is copied in many different forms from disparate sources, e.g. we all know how mundane is video piracy and is actually doing well because we are enjoying it and are paying for it. The gamut of knowledge, which could be used for better prospects, is now being scathed due to this duplicity. Media in the form of books have also influenced society as a whole. The exposure to porn, romance.etc has become so common. So it is creating ill will and the very image of chastity is now translucent.we have heard so many cases of people imitating a T.V. advertisement and ending in dire consequences. The very personality of a person has very much become virtual. An ‘ idle minds is a devils workshop’, this saying is very much responsible to give an upper edge to media to make examples for us. Tough I don’t discourage media for everything as it is a major source of entertainment and has really made things possible for us to watch and learn which without it would have only been a dream. So we should realize the importance with what we are blessed and should inhibit it to further a cause towards a better realization of our goals and should set our trends and values to be realized and followed by others, what was there when there was no media, people still had values and desires, so I can conclude by summarizing as ‘ life of great men all remind us we can make our life sublime’.
  5. This is unfortunate that today’s educators place so much emphasis on finding out what students what to include in the curriculum and then giving it to them it is educators duty to determine the curriculum and the students duty to study what is presented to them. Man is a social animal. In a democratic and secular country it has always been its freedom to choose what is suitable for him. Every citizen has equal rights to demonstrate his ideas in matters related to politics, society, education, private sectors etc. and the saying ‘ united we stand a and divided we fall ‘ best fits in here. There are some aspects where a cognizant thinking on a higher scale is mandatory for the well being of our nation and the best example, which suits this, is an educational institution. School is temple of learning .I do believe in the fact that in the matter of teaching and education the staff of the school together with the authority should decide about what should be incorporated in the curriculum. The students are not so perspicacious in their approach and their thinking may be very mundane. Therefore I rightly support the author’s view that it is the educators who should determine the policies of education though the students should have a some say to improvise them by presenting their ideas but the autocratic attitude under no circumstances should be welcomed. The educators are all experienced personals who have a in depth knowledge of what should he included in the course module of every subject which best suits for providing the excellent guidance and to make students follow the right pathway to success. Though its very hurting to know that some institutions emphasize on the idea that students should have their dictatorial ship in deciding the curriculum, it can be also due to the reason that the particular institution is not very popular or might not have modern facilities, so in order to draw large number of students for the proper funding of the college, this untoward step is being practiced. But it should be always remembered that such an institution will never be a renowned place and it will be very hapless for them in future.. Moreover if the authority is given to students, they might take advantage of this right and make rules, which might lead to destruction rather than construction. They can cut down on the course module, which might be very important. We should not forget that in this commercial world the competition is growing exponentially and to compete and win the race there should be something extraordinary in us and moreover the authority should not be munificent and should make rules, which should always be towards a positive face. We should always believe in the fact that teacher is like a candle to the student who burns himself and gives light to others, so this light should always be taken a s a means for the development of our morals and fulfillment of our goals. I also support the fact that students are a part of any institution and their hue should also be taken into proper consideration. A representative should be there to present his views among the authority and if his ideas are towards a brighter side then it should not be overlooked but should be included, as we can never clap with one hand. Apart from study emphasis should be given for over all development of student as all works and no play makes jack a dull boy. Though the ideas of politics among students by forming a mob should be seriously condemned. Therefore I rightly believe that the rope to success can only reach for the greater heights if it’s a combined effort and then a world of beautiful tomorrows is always achievable. CHEERS.
